Lakers fans were fortunate to have Jerry Buss own their team for such a long time.

79 is a little too young to die. Maybe a bit early, but RIP.

There's more Buss' around and that's how an actual dynasty occurs.

It is a man yelling NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! over and over.

    AKA being in disagreement.

    It was appropriate.

No disrespect intended: Any heirs besides Mrs. Phil Jackson?

I thought this was going to be a thread about firing D'Antonio and rehiring Phil Jackson.

It doesn't matter how rich you are, being healthy should be the greatest gift of all.

What's interesting is that Jim and Jeanie Buss have supposedly not spoken to each other since the Phil Jackson debacle. I wonder how Jerry's death is going to affect their relationship, and the management of the team going forward. I'm guessing Jeanie was against the D'Antoni hire from the start.....things are getting incredibly dysfunctional in LA.

Jim is his oldest son...you don't pas down the family business to the woman and you have two male sons in line.

She wanted control she couldn't have...phil was going to leave anyway..health issues and Jim was already running a few things

Lakers fans wish they had never heard of Jim Buss, who should be busing tables.

Watch Papa Buss leave the team to Phil Jax and Jeanie in the will, that would be fun.

I think it's a little over the male life expectancy in the US... so I guess you could say he beat the odds.

That said, the longer you live, generally, the longer your life expectancy becomes. In other words, I think if you make it to 65, then your expectancy goes up to 81 or something like that.

In any case, a full life at 79 I would probably take. I don't want to die like everybody else, and it would be cool to live a full life to 100 or whatever but I know a guy my age (early 30s) that's been fighting brain cancer for a couple years and has a young family... you never know. Jerry lived a full life. Hate to see anyone go, but he shouldn't have a ton of regrets...

Best of luck on your way out Jerry, if it is indeed your time.
