I would trade for him and give Parsons his walking papers for a shot at possibly making a push fpr LMA. I like Parsons but he is no STAR and will be no better if a little better than Battier.......He is VERY attractive and Expendable. Parsons+fillers for >Ben Gordon+fillers ......then Gordon+fillers for >LMA +fillers Lin Harden Delfino/can easily change but personally I think he has played very well ,plus he is a vet. LMA Asik
Exactly. Nobody is saying EGO is the final piece. But it's definitely a step in the right direction. If we were to make the trade, does that hurt our flexibility of attracting another big name FA?
we wouldn't be able to afford another big name FA. Gordon would effectively be the final piece. It would be a very unMoreyesque move.
And when has any of these "reports" actually panned out? I suspect if Morey mentioned Gordon it was part of a multi-team deal.
Why? Theoretically we can ship out same amount of salaries in the trade (I think we don't have to because we're under the cap), then we'd still have room. No?
It's been stated many times. A BETTER asset to either attract or trade for another star, be it Howard or LeBron or whoever.
I understand your reasoning, but he won't be much of an asset if he's coming off the bench or not playing his natural role. And I'm worried given his injury history and rather large contract.
Well he couldn't attract another star because he'd eat up the cap space required to sign one, and the Heat are never going to trade Lebron and the Lakers won't be trading Howard for a SG this season either. It seems if you wanted Howard, you could just not get Gordon and sign him in the off-season. So since those reasons aren't legit, why go after Gordon?
Why can't we have three stars like Miami? Pat Riley is was a genius. Everybody focused on one star he focused on all and put them together.
That took collusion and players taking less than max deals. Not to mention, they played different positions, Harden and Gordon play SG.
Harden plays way bigger than a SF and he is strong for it. As a matter of fact, defensively he would be better guarding the three.
What Bobby said, the Miami circumstances were so rare that it's unlikely to replicate. Also, you want complimentary stars look throughout NBA history. Miami is able to pull it off because Lebron is such a versatile player. You can't play a guy like Harden AND Gordon together, especially if one isn't playing point guard, because neither one will be able to guard the small forwards, and both need the ball in their hands on the perimeter.
