lol, I was actually thinking today 'i wonder when fun. is coming to houston.' I looked it up and it's tonight... too bad im working or i'd try to get some tix.
Fun. Should kill themselves. Grizzly Bear and Sigur Ros are both going to be in Houston on April 9th. Lame.
I never actually saw Crystal Castles at that Austin show, but now they are coming to Houston on April 20th and I'm going to that 3/9- Cloud Nothings w/ Buxton, Fat Tony, and other locals (for FREE at Rice University) 3/12- Muse (early), Major Lazer (Late) 3/13-3/17- SXSW 4/9- Sigur Ros 4/18- Wavves + FIDLAR (maybe) 4/20- Crystal Castles sometime maybe never- Morrissey in Beaumont (was originally going to be Dec 2nd, then pushed back to Feb 16th, now pushed back again, heard April or May) Eh, I feel like Sigur Ros will be a better experience. I don't really have much interest in seeing Grizzly Bear live for whatever reason, even though I like them May be biased because I bought Sigur Ros tickets before I even know Grizzly Bear was coming but....
Wavves/fidlar for sure, likely king Kahn and the BBQ show, STRFKR for sure, cloud nothings and buxton sounds like a good one too.
Truer words. Downtown Houston will be ground zero for hipster douchedom. If there's not a Rockets or Astros game that night, I vote for carpet bombing downtown that day.
Grizzly Bear is one of the better sounding live bands I've seen. I was so-so on them a few years ago until I saw them live for the first time. They're outstanding. I'll have to find more info on that Cloud Nothings show at Rice. Would love to see them.
Nas tonight! Muse, and I guess I'll be headed to KKK area to see Moz live. Why won't dude come here any longer?
One of the things I like about them is how well they sound live. Wife is a big fan and bought tickets before we knew Sigur Ros was in town, I'd rather see them, but Grizzly Bear is certainly a good consolation prize.
I like Grizzly Bear too. I was just having fun. . . Lucero in Austin tomorrow night! Thinking about heading up to Austin early afternoon tomorrow. Drinks, anyone?
Here you go- http://ods.ktru.org/ Its the annual KTRU show, they always have a free show during SXSW week at Rice. Last year they had Slim Thug, Titus Andronicus, The Thermals, Chairlift, and a bunch of locals. Line-up is a bit smaller this year but I'm still going to probably go to see the Cloud Nothings. Area is really nice and small. Pretty easy to meet the bands if you want. Got to talk to Titus' lead singer for a bit last year (one of my favorite bands so that made me happy). Ended up leaving before Slim Thug to go catch Neon Indian and Purity Ring at the House of Blues last year though.
is this where washed out played a couple years ago? i remember seeing them, falling in love...i think it was at rice.
yup. I had wanted to go to that one (I think Real Estate and that band Michael Cera was in were there too) but my plans fell through. Would have been awesome to see Washed Out and Real Estate
