Why does *** mean cigarette, a bundle of sticks, or an old woman? Words can and do have multiple meanings, and if a word slipped into our vernacular with a different meaning so be it. Don't be so hetero.

no thats not true...there are reasons other than religious to not be for supporting gay marriage.

the problem is that the liberal media demonizes the actual reasons for not supporting and the right wing stupidly promotes the religious reasoning instead of the social.

I do not agree with the homosexual lifestyle...but I also do not care if they get married. I do not feel it is my obligation to stop it because not allowing them to get married isnt effecting their choice to be gay or not...so its irrelevant. I actually used to be pro gay marriage until I educated myself...which most of ignorant masses have not.

It Defeats the State’s Purpose of Benefiting Marriage and can cause serious social problems...relating to tax breaks...also can lead to situations where two roomates claim to be married for a tax break... if this grows enough can have a massive social impact.

This could flow over to what equates marriage? Well now we have the civil rights fight for "couples in general" getting the same benefits as married couples.

The tax break is designed to reward families...because it promotes a healthy, consistent and stable home environment for raising children. A man that is with one woman every year and has 6 different kids...create social havoc. We want to do anything to diminish this.

TRUST ME ON THIS...if gay marriage is pushed through. The government will look to remove marriage benefits all together. This is a tax break that the liberal side has been against for years, and would have good reason to remove it if they can point to adding homosexual and "couples" to the benefits would be to great of a strain for the nation to afford...and they would be right.

The reason for democrats pushing gay marriage isnt because they like gay people more...its because they want to limit tax breaks. Allowing gay marriage is the first step in revoking the benefits for married couples.

That Social Security can't afford to pay for same-sex couples. This is probably biggest an most important. This has to do with the system of spousal and survivor benefits.

no you are spot on...actually and it has everything to do with this post. This post is about how basketball players are standing up to fight against the civil right attack against homosexuals.

Which is ignorant and insulting to compare.

And here come the essays/crazy theories on why judging/hatred is okay....

They ARE being discriminated because of who they are (born that way or "choice" does not matter, it IS who they are). It is an injustice, an infringement on rights and should be fought.

You know there is such a thing as documentation for things like marriage, right? However, I didn't realize that only two roomates of the same sex can pretend to be married for tax reasons. I didn't know a male and a female roomate could not claim to be married for a tax break. Tax code is so cool!

Everything about gay rights is not hatred or judging.

If by discrimination you mean being beaten, not allowed a job, paid less wages for equal work as others, etc.; then I am with you against these injustices against any human being for any reason at all, not just sexual preference.

But if you mean things like "marriage" rights, what's makes gay people's claim of discrimination for marriage equality valid and polygamous people claim of discrimination for marriage equality invalid?

And what makes this question an essay or crazy theory?

Yah I mean I am a strong Christian which typically labels someone as a "homophobe" or "gayhater" ....but I am not...in any way.

I love gay people as much as anyone else. No problems with them at all, the guy that cuts my hair is gay. Hes a great guy and wouldnt let anyone else touch my hair he does such a good job.

But this isn't about religion...if it was just based on religion id be standing out there with them saying let them get married. We are all just puppets being played by the machine to waste our time an energy squabbling over the little details while they pull the rug from under us.

lol...yes I am being slightly dramatic.
