Yes and no. Your point is definitely valid, but sometimes you use different approach for different students.

Another way to look at it is McHale has higher expectations for Lin. Spurs' coach Popovich is known for yelling at his players but he chewed out Tony Parker much more than everyone else during Parker's earlier years. Was he treating Parker unfairly? Sure, you can make that argument, but look at what kind of a player Parker is now!

I don't know what the problem is with McHale yelling at Lin. In any sport, coaches can yell at their players all they want. Do some fans think a coach can't yell at Lin? If this was Douglas or Beverley i don't think anyone would make a big deal out of it but since it's Lin then most people go, "OMG fire McFail!" "Lin's confidence gets shut down!" "Mchale hates Lin!" blah blah blah. Coaches aren't cheerleaders.

Now people are interested in what McHale said but I'm like, who gives a *****??? I mean why does that even matter??

Ohh thanks. If Lin feels he's being mistreated maybe he should yell back at McHale. Wouldn't mind seeing some fire in him lol.

I'm not surprised at this vid. I remember reading on another site, that this same situation occurred in a previous game. Apparently, someone attended a previous game, reported McHale yelled at Lin and a staff member not on the coaching staff looked like he was consoling Lin. Same exact scenario. The guy consoling Lin looked like Doc.

I guess McHale's philosophy is to humiliate a player to get him to play better.

If that is the case, then I would I agree with you. I don't know that for sure, but that is a possibility.

Nah..I think Hollins was just frustrated and tried to kick the ball. Noticed how he bent over and said something.

It is a bit unfair to drop Popovich to McHale standards.

It looked bad in real time, but from the replay Hollins was actually trying to
kick the ball away from Lin. Bad play.. but I don't think he was trying to hurt
    Lin.

I don't know about McHale yelling. Stopped watching for a while. But in the first quarter around 5 mins left when Lin got his first foul on CP3, , Sampson was shaking his head having a disgust expression on his face as if he was so pissed off by Lin's foul. That was very hard for me to watch. I don't like that type of face expression on any coach, be it Sampson or Mark Jackson. I know Sampson has never been high on Lin. But to show it in public in such manner is just not nice.

Yeah we can score but we get Punkd a lot, not much toughness on our team besides harden, and Beverly. We need a few hard nosed defenders at the wing, something like Tony Allen or ShumperT. Delfino can shoot but he also prances around a lot trying to be pretty.

Sampson hates Lin and when Lin does good he looks pissed when Lin do bad he looks at McHale whispering bench him

I don't think he was saying McHale was in Pop's league as far as coaching, but just that there could be a similarity between the early "rocky" relationship he had with Parker and McHale's relationship with Lin - which would due in part to high expectations of the PGs.
