Are you a doctor? Or did you at least stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

Otherwise, this sounds like a bunch of BS-overly-pessimistic-speculation.

Since bruising is cause by bleeding under the skin, and the knee meniscus and bone, there is always a big chance that a bruising in the knee from the front is a cause of bleeding from the damage of the meniscus. Just look at some images from google images and see the location of it.

Like I said, bruising of the knee is no joke because there's pretty much only bone and tissues there. It means if something is not circulating properly (sore) there's a big chance the tissue gets agitated and tears.

I mean lets really pick someone from the Rockets who had similar symptoms. Just look at Lin last year. Started with sore and bruising knee, and guess what? He played and he got a tear. The rest is history.

No I'm not a doctor, I'm just speaking what I know from the injuries I've witnessed before. I have my concerns for Harden as his fan. I rather have him not ruin his season with an injury if it's treatable. Would you rather be safe or sorry? That's a serious question I want you to think about.

Friedman said Harden "knee still sore but much-improved". Hopefully that's a sign that it's not something serious as you suggested. I thought if there was a risk, then his knee would keep being swollen, no? Anyway, I hope they closely monitor his knees in this game if he does play.

I totally agree that coaches should reduce Harden's minutes to about 35-38 minutes per game. He is our cornerstone player and we shouldn't take any risk when it comes to his healthy.

No if it swells, then it's ALREADY too late. If it starts swelling it means the meniscus is already torn. Just a matter of how torn it is.

Man, you got me nervous. I do remember Lin said that his knee was already sore when he was playing that Toronto game in last March, several games before they found out his knee needed to take an MRI.

I'm sure the Rockets doctors would not let him play if it was serious.

Well the next big symptom to know if Harden ruined his knee is if it swells or he feels "little sharp pain" to it. If he does, then its torn... Lets hope it doesn't get to that. I do hope for the best like the rest of us, but there's too many cases in the NBA where the team doctor gives the player a go not in the interest of the players' health.

Just posting to say don't listen to RedEyesKirby. Every athlete has had a swollen knee. That is not indicative of a tear in the meniscus smh

I was just wondering: when it comes to the knee, shouldn't the player take an MRI every time he feels sore to just be cautious and avoid finding out the potential injury too late like in Lin's case? Or having too much MRI is not good for you?

You can have as much MRI scans as you want, it won't affect you. But it's definitely expensive and time consuming (there's always a huge demand). In most cases a diagnosis would do so there's no need for MRI. Most of the time feeling sore isn't a problem, it's the bruising that becomes worrying because there's only so many things you can damage in the knee to cause bruising and pretty much everything that gets damaged there is an integral part to the ligaments.

Don't know a whole lot about knee injuries, but I do know that Jeremy Lin's "sore knee" last year with the Knicks ended up being a torn meniscus. I think it would be pessimistic to assume the same will happen to Harden, but it is definitely something to take seriously.

    From the Feigen piece:

Interesting characterization there - nice insight into how McHale thinks

McHale actually called screens for Lin last time we played GSW, much to GSW's woes. Coach likes to throw the kid a bone when the Rockets play his old teams apparently. Hopefully the trend continues despite the inevitable Asik fumble or two.

Key to game: Blow GSW out so Harden can rest his knee for tomorrow.

Hey R.E.K., how do you know so much about knee injuries?
