Agreed...itd be more simple to say that they are a crap FO because they gave Gay a Max deal. Which is one of the worst contracts in the NBA.

They should have traded him the year before they resigned him. Would have got more then tayshan prince and back up PF.

Morey would have done that and got a 1st and two 2nds that he would have turned into rotation players.

    That's the difference.

The bottom line is that the Raptors have won 3 out of 4 games since Rudy Gay joined the team and he's played an important role in the process. Ultimately, that's all that matters.

    Oh good...

Can somebody get me mah pro-tractor to see if Rudy Gay's typical 9-24 is better than Prince's 8-8?

Awesome! The Grizzlies are now .500 since they traded away Rudy Gay while the Raptors are .750. #Progress. Maybe Hollinger will let you be his water boy in Memphis, that is unless he doesn't have to go back to being a statistician at a cable sports company after being fired by an NBA team yet again.

Pretty sure Rudy Gay wronged SamFisher in another life. Only explanation for his vendetta against Rudy Gay.

Raptors are 3-2 with Gay. That is .600 ball.

Grizzlies are 3-2 with Prince. That is .600 ball.

The grizzles, if austin daye, can keep playing the way he does, will have made a pretty good deal.

Austin Daye is already the best shooter on the grizzlies entire team. I am surprised that the pistons let him go he is that good of a shooter.

It's true. For 5 years after every bad game for Shane Battier, there would be an intense debate about Rudy. And for that matter, there was an intense Rudy Gay debate after many good Shane Battier games as well. And some other times too.

Rudy Gay could score 25 points including the game-winning jumper in game 7 of the NBA Finals and people like SamFisher would still be crying about a "lack of efficiency."

If your first option is Rudy Gay you aren't in game 7 of the NBA Finals in the first place.

Doubtful if he's even your 2nd best, unless you have LeBron or Durant next to him.

That does not say anything about Gay.

It is also true for Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Yao Ming, and hundreds of NBA players.

Chris Paul and Steve Nash probably could have. Nash was very close to reaching the finals as the best player on his team, and Paul has a chance. They just can't carry a team by themselves there (and of course Nash can't be the best player on a finals team anymore).

That's not too far away from what a washed up Shane Battier actually did last year after you swore up and down that he was an affront to the righteous and would never be in the same room with an O'Brien trophy- and where were you?

Anyway let me know when the above happens! ;)

Not really. Tmac c/o Tinman still takes the cake. You can't beat the 99ers.

Well he goes 9 for 25 right? So to get his his 25 pts he'd have to jack up around 33 shots to do it. Even if he hits the "game winning" jumper, if only he didn't shoot so badly then maybe they wouldn't need a game winner in the first place.

The thing is that Rudy Gay CAN'T do that.

And the reason is his "lack of efficiency".

He's unable to be the offensive centerpiece of an elite team, and he's not a real good defender or playmaker. Now this is neither here nor there EXCEPT that he's being paid max money. So for that money, a one dimensional player either needs to be a centerpiece, or on a team with a very very very high payroll.

As centerpiece he won't get to the finals since he's just not good enough.
Very very difficult for the very very very high payroll teams to bring him in anyway based on the new CBA --> they'd more likely spend that close to $20m elsewhere.

Battier is probably the equivalent player to Rudy Gay (except defensive instead of offensive) - if Battier was making a huge max salary, do you think he'd be on the Heat right now?

So: wake me up when Gay wins a round of the playoffs please? Maybe we could start with him getting into the 2nd round before we make audacious comments about him hitting game winners in the finals!
