Of course all the armchair Defenders of Justice with PhD in Psychology here will declare that they would not have murdered the guy.

I think the better question is if gun control laws were tighter, would this father had the opportunity to grab a gun and return to the scene so fast?

    Everybody is different.

I respect the dad's position. I wouldn't be surprised if I had done the same thing.

Hard to say. Of course, the sensible thing to do would be to let the authorities handle it.

However, if you are a father, then you would understand where he is coming from after having seen two of his young sons killed right in front of him because of a drunk driver. I would imagine at that point he became a man with nothing to lose.

PS. I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for drunk drivers. I consider them weapons of mass destruction.

Shot to the head. You don't need much more than a single shot in this case. No semi-auto handgun, no rifle, no gun controls beyond a full ban is going to prevent this kind of thing.

One of his sons may still have been alive when he left and grabbed his gun and killed the guy, since he was evacuated to a hospital.

This. I would hope I would be able to control myself or have others around that would control me, but I know the first thought on my mind would be to take the life of the person who took my daughter's.

I'd need a crystal ball to tell me if the father had ever driven drunk before, and if he also had ESP and could tell the driver was drunk, and if the drunk driver had night vision goggles to see a car on the side of an unlit road before I justify a revenge killing for an unintended death.

Honestly? Not have just given him one to the head. He would have to suffer a lot more than that.

A unfathomable trajedy. The man lost two sons, facing a likely jail term for taking the matter in his own hand, and has a wife, daughter, an infant son needing support. This is just sad. The two kids ar still gone, but and all of this on top of that. What about the rest of the family.

Maybe. So the man would still be able to provide for the rest of family. To what end has he achieved on a practical level? I am talking about long term effects.

Very tragic. I feel for the dad and understand his pain, but killing the guy? No.

Many years ago my girlfriend was broadsided by a drunk driver who ran a red light while driving with no lights on. She was not seriously hurt and was able to call home for me to come get her.

When I got there the dude was already handcuffed but laughing about it and talking ****. I picked up an empty 16 ounce Dr Pepper bottle laying on the ground and cold cocked his ass. The cops did nothing. I felt better.

I am a peace loving old hippie, but this just sprang out of me without a second thought.

    I'd be that way if:

    1) My sons weren't currently dying
    2) The actions were far more intentional

I might kill Jerry Sandusky if one of those had been my kids, but I imagine in this situation the grief, panic, and sadness would take over before anger, and by the time anger came into view, a calmer head would likely have prevailed.

The prosecution would not want me on the jury.

Everyone knows if you drink and drive, there's a good chance you can kill someone.
