For my older posters, yall remember. OT was one of da most underrated POWER forwards in da history of da league. Da frontcourt of him and Dream went together like cadillacs and 84's. He put da POWER in power forward and his chemistry wit Olajuwon was so crisp and clean it was a thang of beauty to watch, and he could palm da ball like a baseball his hands was gigantic. And to top it all off his one hand dunks was just DAYUM, he threw down the hardest wit one hand. And like Horry said, his body and build was da best for a power forward, everytime i seen dude his shoulders made me wanna hit da weights. PROPS TO OT, ONE OF CLUTCH CITYS FORGOTTEN HEROES!
OT played 82 games basically every season with the Rockets (Got traded in 94-95 for Drexler) It's funny how there's a group on the board who loves a player who could never obtain this level of dependability. Some people like Mr Glass or the Invisible Woman, but back then we like Iron Man http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thorpot01.html
Season Age Tm Lg Pos G GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 1988-89 26 HOU NBA PF 82 82 3135 521 961 .542 0 2 .000 328 450 .729 272 515 787 202 82 37 225 259 1370 1989-90 27 HOU NBA PF 82 82 2947 547 998 .548 0 10 .000 307 446 .688 258 476 734 261 66 24 229 270 1401 1990-91 28 HOU NBA PF 82 82 3039 549 988 .556 3 7 .429 334 480 .696 287 559 846 197 73 20 217 278 1435 1991-92 29 HOU NBA PF 82 82 3056 558 943 .592 0 7 .000 304 463 .657 285 577 862 250 52 37 237 307 1420 1992-93 30 HOU NBA PF 72 69 2357 385 690 .558 0 2 .000 153 256 .598 219 370 589 181 43 19 151 234 923 1993-94 31 HOU NBA PF 82 82 2909 449 801 .561 0 2 .000 251 382 .657 271 599 870 189 66 28 185 253 1149 1994-95 32 TOT NBA PF 70 35 2096 385 681 .565 0 7 .000 167 281 .594 202 356 558 112 41 28 132 224 937 1994-95 32 HOU NBA PF 36 35 1188 206 366 .563 0 3 .000 67 127 .528 113 209 322 58 22 13 76 102 479 Career NBA 1257 989 39822 6872 12593 .546 3 64 .047 3853 5612 .687 3446 6924 10370 2730 840 501 2774 4146 17600

We don't win the first one without OT grinding it out against the Knick thugs. He did yeoman's work in that series and will always be remembered as a champion.
loved him, but the dude was limited. Poor vertical, terrible touch. this made me think of Buck Johnson, nice enough guy, but danm - he never improved his game or body in all his years as a pro. The Rockets were very generous. * I remember him from upstairs at "Avalon" (Richmond & 6-10). I found him humble, shy & small framed (i was probably 17 at the time).
I remember him almost never missin a game! Dude was crazy durable, and his frame was solid steel, sort of like Lebrons!
I loved going to the games back in the Summit, and hearing the announcer scream "OOO TTTTT....OTIS THORPE!" whenever he had a thunderous jam. Man, those were the days.....
How on God's Green Earth are you comparing him to Buck Johnson!!! Freaking OT was an ALL STAR. Look at his field goal percentage. What OT did you watch? Not this one Not the guy who d-ed up Karl Malone . Not the guy who set bone crushing picks. Not the guy who just dunked on everybody .
You need lots of education here dude. Take these classes: Twin Towers 101 Clutch City 101 Clutch City 201
poorly worded on my part My POV as well. His name evoked memories that ended up w/Buck Johnson (for some tipsy reason), a reflection of the era, not meant as a comparison to OT. Dave Jamerson made an appearance as well...
OT & Dream went together like 33 & 34. Like someone else mentioned, his baseball passes to someone streaking to the basket were awesome! I also remember when the Drexler trade went down, everyone was asking "who's gonna rebound?".
