Da frontcourt of him and Dream went together like cadillacs and 84's. He put da POWER in power forward and his chemistry wit Olajuwon was so crisp and clean it was a thang of beauty to watch, and he could palm da ball like a baseball his hands was gigantic. And to top it all off his one hand dunks was just DAYUM, he threw down the hardest wit one hand. And like Horry said, his body and build was da best for a power forward, everytime i seen dude his shoulders made me wanna hit da weights. PROPS TO OT, ONE OF CLUTCH CITYS FORGOTTEN HEROES!
OT played 82 games basically every season with the Rockets (Got traded in 94-95 for Drexler) It's funny how there's a group on the board who loves a player who could never obtain this level of dependability. loved him, but the dude was limited. Poor vertical, terrible touch. this made me think of Buck Johnson, nice enough guy, but danm - he never improved his game or body in all his years as a pro. The Rockets were very generous. * I remember him from upstairs at "Avalon" (Richmond & 6-10). I found him humble, shy & small framed (i was probably 17 at the time).
I remember him almost never missin a game! Dude was crazy durable, and his frame was solid steel, sort of like Lebrons!
I loved going to the games back in the Summit, and hearing the announcer scream "OOO TTTTT....OTIS THORPE!" whenever he had a thunderous jam. Man, those were the days.....
How on God's Green Earth are you comparing him to Buck Johnson!!! Freaking OT was an ALL STAR. Look at his field goal percentage. What OT did you watch? poorly worded on my part My POV as well. His name evoked memories that ended up w/Buck Johnson (for some tipsy reason), a reflection of the era, not meant as a comparison to OT. Dave Jamerson made an appearance as well...
OT & Dream went together like 33 & 34. Like someone else mentioned, his baseball passes to someone streaking to the basket were awesome! I also remember when the Drexler trade went down, everyone was asking "who's gonna rebound?".
