25 and that show sucks. Any show with that kind of laugh track sucks. Don't mean to be rude, but I just don't know how else to say it. I sometimes watch it and 2.5 Men and just wonder how anyone could think those "jokes" and predictable one-liners are funny. But, to each his own.
THIS. I personally like it. Although I agree with plcmts17 , Sheldon carry's the show. The episode about sexual harassment I thought was really funny
Yeah, they figured out to get female viewers to watch Star Trek without them knowing it, because BBT is Star Trek set in a living room.
I think it's pretty funny when i watch it, but i've only seen 2-3 episodes in the past 4-5 months and it seems like I always catch the same ones i've seen before. I like cable series rather than sitcoms...game of thrones, dexter, walking dead, american horror story..I think I've watched modern family more consistently than any other network sitcom in my life. Good stuff
Honestly, shows like Arrested Development, 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny, Parks & Rec, etc. kind of killed the appeal of old-school three camera, canned laughter sitcoms for me. It's not just BBT, I can't watch 2 & 1/2 Men or How I Met Your Mother either. That said, I don't think it's just the format. IMO those shows just have crappier writing staffs too.
To OP, have you watched EVERY episode to say you don't think it's funny or have you only seen a few and say it's not funny? From reading the "i don't think the show is funny" comments, it looks like you guys didn't watch every episode to keep up with the character's stories that makes the show funny. I watched every episode and i enjoy watching it.
This show is hit & miss for me. It's funny maybe 8% of the time that it's trying to be. Given the options, it's about par for a TV sitcom by today's standards. Give me Married with Children or Seinfeld any day over this show. The sexual harassment was one of the funnier ones i've seen out of the last few seasons.
I have never watched this show and don't ever plan on it. Seeing the commercials on TBS was enough to turn me off on this show.
Plenty of shows with laugh tracks are all time greats, so that alone shouldn't make a difference. But I totally agree with the predictable one li we comment. That is why this show, and everything on CBS is terrible. That and the writers pay no attention to character development. In 5 years, characters don't evolve.
Kind of funny how most everybody in the thread hates it and some even say "it's past its prime", yet its viewership has increased almost every year. It's blowing up ratings in the UK and at one point (if not still) was the most watched comedy in Canada. I've watched several of the re-runs and really found the show hilarious. Sheldon and Howard are probably my favorite characters. I have no idea what's going on in the current episodes as I don't really watch them, so maybe it's started to suck, but that sure hasn't stopped viewership from the looks of it.
