this isn't illegal. the NBA allows people to share games all the time. You can get the 2012 All Star game at Youtube right now.

Yes download itunes if your computer doesn't have it, and then buy the game and download it to your computer/ipod touch/ipad or whatever other itunes compatible device you have after the game airs.

You can get it in HD quality, which you won't get if you tape on VCR or even DVD recorder. If you want to own a recording of the all star game permanently and don't plan on recording anything else with a dvr/vcr/dvd recorder in the future then that is probably the easiest and cheapest way to go.

Yes, because you'll store the DVDs in less space than you would on a VHS cassette, but be careful and make sure you can re-record on DVD-RW in case you want to copy the DVD on a PC or a duplicator and re-use the DVD-RW. On VHS, it's an analog recording (lower quality) on 480p, while on DVD, you can record in 720p at a higher quality.

A DVD recorder is a lot more expensive, though.

Did you see the links I sent for the VHS recorders on Craigslist? Just look there.

Thank you guys for your advices. I am going to buy DVD recorder tomorrow. Do you have any link where they have good deal on DVD recorder and also use DVD-RW cd? I am planning to record Friday, Saturday, and Sunday including Inside the NBA.

I haven't seen a DVD recorder that will record in 720p. The size of a whole game at that quality would probably be more than could fit on a dvd. Many upconvert to 720 or higher, but they still record in standard definition.

See Can I record high def on a dvd recorder and more discussion on the topic here

The itunes option is still way cheaper and guaranteed high def quality unless you are going to be recording other things in the future. Plus some shows are copy protected from recording to DVD by default.
