Shumpert sucks. He's one of the worst offensive players in the NBA as a 6'5" shooting guard. (Here's a hint, being able to shoot is kind of important as a shooting guard.)

This is one of those guys where I don't know why people on this board like him. He's just terrible. The only thing he does well is defense, and you need offense from the 2.

    Shumpert is HORRIBLE.

Anyone see the Knicks vs. Clippers game today?

    The dude played 20 minutes.

    His contribution...

    2 points (1-4 from the field) 1 rebound 0 assists 2 turnovers

He also failed at defending Eric Bledsoe, Chris Paul and Jamal Crawford all of whom lit him up like a Christmas tree.

For the season, Shumpert is averaging 5.6 points 1.7 assists 0.6 steals 34.3% from the field 50% from the free throw line.

He's only playing 18 min because he is coming back from a major injury. Rubio came back and sucked for 10 games or so but now seems to be getting back to his normal self. Shump can be a gamechanger when healthy.

If Iman Shumpert played for any team besides the New York Knicks or maybe the Los Angeles Lakers, virtually no one would know who he is, and there would be no Iman Shumpert trade rumors coverage, and no Iman Shumpert discussion taking place on a Rockets fan forum.

The fact that an Iman Shumpert trade rumor is the lead story on RealGM.com kind of tells you everything you need to know about the quality (or lack thereof) of NBA sports journalism. Obviously there are much more interesting trades being discussed, involving much more interesting players.

Interestingly, lost on all the New York Knicks non-signing of Lin hoopla, and how much "better" Felton fits the team (which remains to be seen, because they will miss Lin's scoring once the playoffs start, and there's real pressure on Melo to carry an offensive through 7 games - is the fact that Shumpert has been playing poorly.

Iman Shumpert was playing the best basketball of his life on both sides of the court when Lin was the PG of that team. So was Steve Novak.

Shumpert was, pre-ACL surgery a very good young shooting guard. He's could be another version of Tony Allen. Rumours are that the Suns are offering up Dudley, which would be a huge mistake on the Knicks' part if that's the trade straight-up.

In the right system, next to a swingman that can score, Shumpert bring a lot of value. He could definitely be a starting or 3rd guard on an NBA contender.

Players of this type, like Tony Allen and Avery Bradley are of great value to teams. A lot of NBA players are begged "defensive specialists" but really there are only a few NBA players that you could beg as real defensive stoppers. It's the difference between Courtney Lee (good defensive player, can bother an All-star scorer) and Tony Allen (can stop an All-star scorer, hound the ball, completely turn a game around with big steals). The Bruce Bowen, Scottie Pippen, James Posey, Ron Artest, Tyshaun Prince types in their prime are just as valuable as a 20PPG scorer to a contender.

The reason Boston's so high on Bradley is because they see him as a Tony Allen, Ron Artest type of player. The very rare type of perimeter defender that can stop a PG to big SF. And not only defend, but turn the scorers performer into a negative for that team.

Shumpert definitely looks like he could be one of those players. How well he comes back from ACL surgery this off-season could be the difference between him being the next Courtney Lee or the next Bruce Bowen.

    I like Jeremy a lot.

That said, every time I read "Linsanity" in the GARM I want to puke.

Pretty much, only Lin fans want him due to "Linsanity" , guys like him are a dime a dozen in the league. Good defender, streaky offensive player. Plus he's coming back from serious injury so he can't help the Roxs any time soon.

Rockets getting in on the Shumpert action?

It’s still unlikely Shumpert gets moved, but Grunwald is exploring possibilities. His ears could be even more open following Sunday’s discouraging loss to the Clippers, who looked the more talented team.

According to a source, the Rockets’ director of scouting attended Sunday’s game, but he may have been checking out more than Shumpert, who may not be back to his old self until next season as he returns from ACL surgery.

You basically just described a 'glorified (slightly taller) Norris Cole.'

Pre-injury he would have been good for Houston. I don't see him getting a chance with Harden, even if he comes back to full health.

He's an elite defender. Definitely would be an asset for this team. We don't have anyone to lock down a perimeter player.

taller doesn't equate to stronger or jump higher or play better defence.

He is no longer a keeper, all the talks about trading him on knicks board.

Hope he got traded, eventually play elite defense, left knick fans in weeping.
