You yourself may not believe in anything religious, but I have taken a lot of time to study Bible prophecy and can tell you I have no doubt everything is going according to God's plan. I pray that you "see the light" but I doubt it will happen. Jesus is the only answer. One of these days I will take the time to post a prophecy thread. I know I will be made fun of for it but it may actually help save some people when the last seven years of this age take place.
Really? I'd be interested. Why is the country going to hell? Violence (and not just homicide) is down. People are actually smarter on aggregate. Abortion rates are actually decreasing these days by quite a bit, thanks to greater sexual education. If you want to speak about banking failures, and the segregation of marriage as the exclusive domain of the college-educated, I think you'll find more answers in the Economist than in the Bible. give me your prophecies cml---I myself think you need to stop deluding yourself about the end of the world, and start living in the here and now working against it, if you believe that is the case. of course, you working against the end of the world will somehow involve repeating 2000-year old scripture, and not, you know, actual policies/policy positions changing, for example, societal discount rate, and fostering more care for both the environment and future generations---is that out of the books? or it it cool just to repeat what someone else is "planning" for humanity?
Northside, first of all "XXX is going to hell in a hand basket" is just an expression. I actually think this country is still majority Christian which is a good thing. That means most will not go to hell. As far as Bible prophecy goes, I will give you the short version. I don't have the time to type everything out as I am really a terrible typist and have a lot going on right now. First, Bible prophecy centers around Israel and Christians. America is not really mentioned specifically. There were many prophecies fulfilled when Israel became a country again in 1948. There are many more but here a a few below. Amos 9:14-15 I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God. Ezekiel 37:10-14 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet--a vast army. Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: O my people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. There were also prophecies of people returning to Israel from all over the globe. Ezekiel 34:13 I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land. Jeremiah 31:10 “Hear the word of the Lord, O nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands: ‘He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.’ There were also many prophecies that can not be fulfilled without Jerusalem being under Israel's control. That happened in 1967. These prophecies are already fulfilled. Many books have been written about these fulfilled prophecies. As far as future prophecies in no particular order: 1) The church will be raptured before the tribulation(the last seven years of this age). 1 Thessalonians 4:16 -17 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.. 2) The world economy will crumble and one man will appear to "rescue" it 3) This man will become the world leader. 4) Noboby will be able to buy or sell anything with accepting a mark or symbol that shows loyalty to the man who "saved" the economy Revelation 13:17 7 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 5) God will pour out terrible judgements on the world during this time. Listed in the book of Revelations 6) Demascus Syria will be destroyed according to Isaiah. Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus: Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a citie, and it shall be a ruinous heap. 7) Israel will be attacked by a a group of countries lead by Russia and Iran. Ezekiel 38: 1-6 "And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I [am] against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts [of armour, even] a great company [with] bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: [and] many people with thee. Northside, there are so many more. Every Bible prophecy has been fulfilled so far. The only ones left to be fulfilled, concern the "end times", which I am quite certain we are living in now.

The Left Behind trilogy starring Kirk Cameron is pretty entertaining, if you're in to sci-fi/fantasy. I am also a big fan of Jack Van Impe. That guy can spout some entertaining doomsday prophecy. He's second to none. This thread has gone from crazyville to I don't know where...or maybe we're just spinning in circles.
