If Patterson continues to play consistently, would you still want him gone for pick/prospect?

I know earlier in the season, this board couldn't wait to dump the guy at the deadline. I know I was. But now that he seemed to have found a niche and playing quite well, have your opinions changed?

I would still trade him. I think it would actually be a big blow to our playoff hopes this year, but long term wise a PF(or 2) has to be moved. And Patterson has high trade value right now. Curious to see if Morey is willing to trust our playoff run on either Jones or Motiejunas.

Ideally I want to keep him as our bench PF instead of Scrub Morris.

If Patterson could just rebound, he would be untouchable

i would rather him grab 15 rebounds, than score 15 points.. he has the ability to play similar to Kenneth Faried if just puts forth the effort

IMO his playing well does nothing but raise his trade value, as to if I still want to dump him, it would depend on what you could get for him. If it's nothing special then I'm all for dumping Morris instead. As long as a PF is dumped before the deadline to make space in the rotation for Motiejunas, I don't really care how it's done, neither Patterson nor Morris are the future at the 4 for the Rockets, I wouldn't care if they dumped both of them at the deadline.

Can you name a single player you wish Morey hadn't traded away or let go?

Lin I suppose. Chuck Hayes maybe. But both of those had extenuating circumstances (lockout/Stern veto).

I trust the team's judgement on these matters.

2Pat isn't somebody that will win you a game, or lose you a game. Not on a game-by-game basis, but statistically over a season, he doesn't have a big impact on wins/losses.

He's be great as a back-up, but once his rookie contract runs out, probably be a bit costly as one.

Unless we get our pick owed to Atlanta back (gives trade flexibility back for us, while Atlanta needs some PF insurance for Josh Smith leaving, even if they want to move Horford back to PF), I'd probably prefer to keep Pat until the season ends.

Making the playoffs would be great for luring that next star/near-star in free agency, or even in trades if that player will name the Rockets as a destination. And I'm not sure we have enough experienced depth behind us at PF to cushion the loss of 2Pat this season.

I'm not saying I'm disappointed with Lin, but at the time I really didn't understand why Morey just didn't give Dragic the player option. He was playing fantastically for us, averaging something like 19/9 for the last 30 games of last season.

Trade Morris. Keep Pat as a back-up.

Supposing he is good at defense (I'm bad at judging that, and opinion is mixed on the board), I am a big fan of keeping him. He'd be the perfect role player - plays good D and hits the open shot. He's so consistent at the latter. That's so important when your main dudes like Harden and Lin draw double teams. Ppat's even working on a post game, which is gravy IMO. Rebounding could improve, but I believe we're still a good rebounding team. To me, it's about D and hitting the open shot.

Not sure that he'd be "untouchable". As far as the manimal comparison.....if backed into a corner Faried would would eat your face off while Patterson would give you his wallet and car keys. Just different mentalities between them. I'd absolutely sell "high" on PPatt right now and still feel comfortable with our chances of sneaking into the playoffs.

I agree, I hated the dude from the start of the season but i'm starting to like him. Maybe if we can pull a deal on trading for Paul Millsap with out trading Patrick can work. Have Patrick Patterson as a back up and have him learn from Paul Millsap will improve Patrick's game better.

Well, we`ve got to improve the roster somewhere. Right now 4 positions seems to be set, as long as no superstar comes knocking:

PG: Lin - just invested a lot of money in him. Much media attention and his play is starting to come together.
SG: Harden - centerpiece of the team for years to come
SF: Parsons - do it all player with the best contract of the entire NBA
C: hard worker, does the dirty work and is already outplaying his contract - plus good centers are hard to come by

So that basically leaves PF for an upgrade. PPat is fine offensively but his rebounding and defense are lacking - plus it seems to be the easiest position to upgrade. And with PPat playing better, he increases his trade value. And he is due to get a new contract soon, and right now it seems to be in the MLE range...

Y'all do realize that Asik takes rebounds away from everyone else. He's a monster on the boards and he absolutely holds back the rebounding potential of the 4 playing next to him. Ill also say that if we had an old crappy 4, we'd jump at the idea of Patterson. He's young, athletic, stretches the floor and is a good team defender. The only thing he doesn't do well is rebound and he's next to the 3rd best rebounder in the league. Patterson is great, I really hope we don't trade him unless we are getting a star...

All the things that you just said are reasons I hope we trade him, he's not the future at the 4 for the Rockets, and his value should be about as high as it ever will be. Might as well get something for him before the Rockets bring in a FA PF and give Motiejunas the backup spot.

If we could get something of value I would trade him in a heartbeat because I think T Jones is the best power forward on the roaster.

Who exactly are you wanting to bring in?? Josh Smith does not make us contenders without the 3rd piece. He also wants a max contract, his age and money holds our potential back more than Pattersons lack of rebounding.

Kevin Love is not available. Who exactly are you talking about??

I'd like to keep Patterson as a back up, but if he continues to play well and increases his trade value I would have no oproblem with trading him. The Rockets have got to thin the glut at power forward and eventually increase production from that position. If trading Patterson nets a pick that allows Morey to upgrade later or he's a crutial part of a trade that does it, you havve to be ready to part with Patterson. I would expect he or Morris (or both) to be traded by the deadline, if only for a pick and expiring contract.
