Beats me - I really don't know. Anyhow the team is winning which is the important thing but in my opinion (and I may be wrong) is that a new coach is needed to get to the level of the Spurs or the Thunder. McHales substitution patterns just won't cut it against the best teams.
None of us know, we can only guess. I am just curious what your first guess would be. What are some possible reasons IYO?
I can't imagine that McHale would be wasting his energy suppressing any player's development. This roster is getting it done on the court and McHale is looking to make his playoff debut as a coach. The man has a winning mentality and has the rings to back it up. What's more important is that the players seem to respect and have confidence in McHale. IMO.
To put my 2 cents in, actually I think Patrick Beverly is good enough to run the team without Harden. To put him up with Harden, when Harden is playing more of a PG role and using him for 3 point spot up shooting, is a waste. The best player in rockets for that configuration is Tony Douglas.
Are you kidding me? Do you see him benching Lin and not taking responsbility during post-game interviews? He's killing their confidence. The only reason this roster is getting it done so far is because the players themselves are really good. The coach is hindering their potential however. Mchale's rings don't mean **** when it comes to coaching. Ask T-wolves fans about how crappy of a coach he is.
Heck i like it that we are winning , but his warriors post game press conference . Was plain odd (body language and tone) to the point it was uncomfortable and apologetic, just don't know what to feel about it. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5J0dGGUmyhY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Heck we just equaled the NBA 3 point record on the golden state! Would have and should have broken it.
^^Pop's never happy about anything either. How weird for a coach not to want his team to become complacent after regular season wins.
This is one of the games in which Lin Boy legitimately shined. and he gets zero love from the coach. He does not single out his performance once, even when asked about the Stephen curry vs Jeremy lin matchup from the reporter. He goes on to answer the questions reading off stats and using the word "we" . Fair enough, but maybe Lin boy wants it that way. Whatever way you try to shine it. it's odd.
Well said. In my opinion he is responsible for at least 3 losses that we could have won without his weird substitutions. The most obvious one that comes to mind is the first game he coached after his extended leave of absence. It was at home against Dallas and he played Lin 18 minutes and Asik 20 minutes and both sat the whole 4th Q. Of course we lost that game. I know a lot of Clutch fans (especially the haters) are high on McHale right now because he finally made Lin the primary ball handler and we've been winning but trust me he will make bad substitutions in the future that will cost us games.
My sense is that however well coach handles the media, or not, has very little to do with the team's success.
His name is Kevin McHale. Seriously? Just what do you think Coach McHale's "agenda" is, other than to develop the best team he can and possibly be playoff bound?
Obviously his agenda is to destroy Jeremy Lin because he hates him. Everyone knows that Lin would be averaging 45 points, 24 assists, 12 rebounds, and 17 steals per game if it wasn't for McHale and Harden holding him back....
Are you saying that this Rockets roster is doing as well as they are in spite of the coaching, and that they would be doing even better if Coach McHale wasn't "hindering" them?
Watch the next few games and see if this pattern is true: Lin comes out with 3-5 minutes to go in the 1st Q. If we are losing he may come out earlier even if it has nothing to do with him. If his backup is playing ok and we are winning Lin will sit for a long time - not just a few minutes in the 2nd Q. Remember he's already sat at least 3-5 minutes in the 1st Q. In the 3rd Q he will probably come out earlier than the 1st Q. If we are winning in the 4th he will sit until it looks like the other team is making a comeback. This has the effect of keeping Lin's stats poor and McHale can say "I told you I was right to cut him". Problem with this is when you mess with momentum it can burn you! Now this is just a theory I have and I could very well be wrong. If I am I will admit it to everyone. The fact is though his usage of Lin (and sometimes Asik) is strange and sometimes hurtful to the team.
Face it dude he doesn't want Lin on the team. Just watch a few games with that thought in mind. I hope I'm wrong - I don't like thinking that people have ulterior motives but the reality is that they do.
That's nothing but a conspiracy theory, have you ever considered that Lin and Asik may have conditioning issues? They both get winded and need rest, watch a game with that thought in mind.
lay off the crack so you guys don't feed your circle jerk paranoia. Jesus Christ, its like one of you guys made like 15 accts and started quoting your own posts.
