Oh yeah, and I forgot about Grevis Vasquez and this year Tony Wroten looks like an absolute steal.

While the rockets are taking Marcus Morris, Royce White and Terrence Jones. None of these players look built to last.

The grizzlies problems remains that they keep shipping off talent, but their drafts have been better than most FOs, including the rockets.

You are giving credit to the Grizzlies for players they did NOT keep and gave away for practically nothing.

You gave Grizzlies credit for Lowry and Vasquez, what did Grizzlies get for guys again?

    Tony Wroten? 34.6%FG 14.3%3pt

I'm sorry, but you can't really believe that.

Yes, the same talent evaluators making the draft picks are shipping these guys off for nothing because they think so highly of them.

You're mad because the Rockets don't have enough playing time for all their draft picks?

Rondo couldn't shoot a lick either. Wroten's defense and passing ability, along with his confidence is going to make him a GREAT player. He's shown flashes of brilliance every time he gets into a game.

Maybe you misunderstood the term "giving credit".

If I found a piece of rock and sold it to some guy for 5 dollars, but that guy who I sold it to knew there was a giant lump of gold inside that rock.

Guess what, what, that doesn't make me a genius for finding the rock in the first place. That makes me an idiot for giving away something so cheap when it was worth so much more because I had no idea what the true value of my asset was.

At this point...I just wonder why what has a Clutchfans account and feels the need to constantly defend the Grizzlies on a Rockets fan website...

    Let's run through.

Pau Gasol -- 3rd pick. Excellent.
    Conley -- 4th pick. Solid.
    Battier - 8th pick. Solid.
Rudy Gay -- 8th pick. Solid.
    Warrick -- 19th pick. Solid.
Lowry - 24th pick. Very good pick, but you didn't keep him.

These are all good selections. But several other not so great selections were left out. That's fine. The draft is hit and miss.

Here are some notable Rockets rookie pick ups in recent years:

    Aaron Brooks - 26th pick.
    Carl Landry - 31st pick.
    Chandler Parsons - 38th pick.
    Chase Budinger - 44th pick.
    Chuck Hayes (undrafted)

The names may not sound as impressive, but they've all been solid NBA players and all taken late in the draft or undrafted. Recent additions with mid first-round picks -- Patterson, Morris, Motiejunas, Jones -- the jury is still out. White was probably a wasted pick, but IMO not a bad gamble at that position.

Again, if you want to compare who did better with their draft selections, you should do so relative to draft position. Otherwise its not even an apples to apples comparison. The Rockets weren't using the draft to build up their roster until more recently. So just because there are arguably more players you can name that were picked up via the draft by the Grizzlies, that doesn't mean they were better at it.

Also, that the Grizzlies were picking No. 2 in some really bad drafts doesn't excuse getting nothing out of the pick. If they didn't believe the players they were getting were worth it, they should have traded their picks for proven players + future picks. Picking up a player like Stromile Swift at No. 2 is just a BAD decision, period.

Conley was drafted with the 3rd pick, and the Rockets haven't had a pick that high since Yao Ming. The problem with you what, is you're trying to argue that Memphis has had the better draft history while ignoring that they've been getting top 10 draft picks.

That's not really a good argument when the dude we just picked up in the 2nd round is better than the dude you just shipped off to Toronto. Hell, the pg we got in FA recently is better than the guy you took with the 3rd pick.

Mike Conley is a better player than Nick Batum??

    Wow.

I don't mean to be rude here, but Chandler Parsons is a better player than Mike Conley right now.
    Rudy Gay might be better?
    Richard Jefferson was definitely better
    Cuttino Mobley, better.

Just because we traded some of those guys doesn't mean we didn't draft them.

And, worth noting, we've had two top 10 pick since we drafted Hakeem. It's a credit to the organisation that we've manage to draft so many players who are better than Conley in that time.

Tony Wroten looks the same as he did in college at the moment.

Can get past anybody to the left, but cannot shoot to save his life.
Also, not brilliant finishing at the rim once he gets there.

MAYBE he'll grow as a player? But to say he's a good player right now paints Patterson as an all-star in comparison.

The bottom line with the Grizzlies is they chose to rebuild when they traded Pau. They got what rebuilding teams get in high draft picks and they just didn't play their cards right.

    Lowry
    Harden
    Gay
    Love
    Gasol

Team Hard Gay Love would have been a championship contender.

Blah, Blah, Blah.... Same old crap from you as Rudy Gay once again leads his new team in scoring with a game-high 20 points as the Raptors win. Keep hatin'.

20 points on 19 shots - definitely a Rudy Gay performance.

It's true- he's topped 20 points in his last 3 - shooting 25/67 in the process.

That would be decent if he were shooting 3's.... otherwise that's Jeremy Lin minus the distance shooting. OH BUT YOU NEED A POCKET PROTECTOR TO SEE THIS!

How convenient... you have managed to completely remove any objective standard to contest your bull**** assertion that Wroten shows brilliance every time he gets in the game.

The Grizz have been mediocre in the draft/talent evaluation.
