No problem if Dmo needs body work but guess what?? Nobody is training that man. Mark Berman needs to ask those questions.
DMo is one of the quickest 7 footers I've ever seen. He can thrive in our fast-paced, uptempo system.
He can go to his left or right hand in the post, and his 3 is legit. Not overrated, just needs polishing
I love D-mo and I think he has a chance to be a star. However, he is still very light in the britches and get pushed around too easily. He needs to pay someone to help him gain some more strength. D-mo weighs only a little more than Durant .
I am hoping that the Rockets are going to trade PPat and Morris to free up some room for Dmo - IMO - outside of Harden he has the most upside potential of anyone on the team. 22 year old guys with his length, quickness and athleticism are very very VERY hard to find. I know he is weak in the upper body, but plenty of guys with his skillset have overcome that as their body matures, Kevin Garnett comes to mind. I think DMo is someone that the Rockets should hold onto unless he is a guy that is needed to get another Superstar... He would be just behind Harden for me as someone not to trade. DD
this. i think and i'd bet the rockets think that he has tremendous offensive potential but he is still a liability on the defensive end. we're not struggling to score so his liability gets magnified. this is his first year getting acclimated to the physicality of the nba... its clear the rockets brass is comfortable letting him take his lumps in limited playing time before they let him become a solid contributor. that said i think the potential for him is pretty high.
I'd hold off on trading Pat. Hes our starting 4 and absolutely critical to making a playoff run this year. Unless we are trading him for another starting 4, he stays. Morris on the our hand, adds little value to our team. He can shoot 3s and that's about it. Move Morris and give Dmo his minutes.
Even though DMo might have some quality post moves, his defense is just not good enough to crack a starting rotation on any team other than the Suns, Bobcats, etc. Most of the time he's out of position, can't box out, or can't guard quicker guys.
D-Mo said in his twitter that he weighs 245 lbs. I thought that's pretty good already. Asik is listed 255 lbs. If more bulking up means he looses some of his speed, then I would rather him not. D-Mo just needs to find a good trainer to train his upper-body strength.
I've only caught one Vipers game with D-Mo so far - but he looked absolutely lost out there despite putting up decent numbers. He looked like he was miles away from becoming an NBA player.
7 footers with his quickness and shooting touch don't come around that often. He's untouchable for at least another season
yes, you are overrating him. He hasn't done anything, and when a guy hasn't done anything 50 games in, there's usually a reason. For every Jeremy Lin, there are plenty of guys whose name you can't remember or never knew.
We need to play him more, and see how he does in non-garbage time minutes. I love the way he can score with either hand, and how his footwork on the block looks so... well, McHale-like. Defensively, we can work on that-- and let's see how he does with Asik or Smith behind him. Maybe he can learn to force his guy to the weak hand, and funnel him to the help.
False dmo has many more than Morris and Paterson leaned a little from scola but he just doesnt finish the nice moves with a bucket. Dmo has pretty much every move but a shake and fall away but again he is 7 ft.
D-Mo doesn't play on a lottery bound team, hence he doesn't get opportunities. It doesn't help that he plays on a team stacked with PFs and is currently behind 2 players who are both considered projects and getting minutes. So the assumption that he doesn't get minutes because he is just not good enough is probably far exaggerated.
I don't think you're overrating him. I can see the argument that he might be a bit soft in the post, but he has a ton of skill and finesse. His footwork and agility in the post is great compared to other 7 footers. He also has a good outside shot. Like others have said it might be his defense and rebounding that might be keeping him on the bench, but honestly if he plays with Asik he would be fine.
Umm If we're talking strictly offensive potential.... D-Mo >>>>> Favors D-Mo's touch and footwork, along with a ton of other offensive skills, are light years ahead of Favors. Although defensively the difference between the two is also immense, with Favors having the obvious, indisputable, edge in that department.
