where is the thread with the idiot stat geeks arguing that a twenty foot jump shot is a bad shot.

when the rockets got harden my friends were questioning how the rockets would play. i said they are going to shoot jumpshots all night. this team is incredible at spacing mainly because they have a bunch of high iq players lead by the highest iq player in the league

We play the 3 ball too much and when it's not falling or Harden is tired, I would like to see Asik get the ball down low.

I'm old school ball player. I love seeing paint abusing plays with a guard or a center.

    Present.

The Rockets are one of the best teams in the league at driving to the basket, with Harden and Lin in the top 10.

Using my ridiculously simplistic analysis, I wouldn't say we're a jump shooting team. We're a drive-and-dish team. And of course when the outside Js are falling, driving to the basket is easier. And when we're getting good penetration we're more likely to get open shots. The two aspects feed off each other.

Live by the three die by the three. When they are falling we are good, when they aren't we lose a lot.

they are falling because the superstar gets people open. you guys have to think outside the box.

back when hakeem was the focal point of the offense during the championship what did the other players do?

Okay. First of all Asik should NEVER see the ball down low unless he has a PG on him from a switch.

Otherwise, is there an offensive system with this current roster that would allow us to score better? We are currently the 5th most efficient offense in the NBA, behind the Spurs, Miami, OKC, and the Knicks.

Do we have the best offensive system in the NBA? No we don't how can we have one of the best systems when we aren't that great of an half court offense.

Look at the offensive system that the Spurs run, or OKC. The rockets are 10th offensively. That is above average but it isn't one of the best. Respond with facts & logic, leave the name calling on the play ground.

The Rockets back then were 1st in 3 pointers attempted. I have no idea why Rockets fans of all people hate the 3 pointers so much. For christ sakes that was the focal point of Rudy T's 2x championship offense.

Those idiot stat geeks were arguing that long two-point jumpers were bad shots. The Rockets shoot the fewest number of those shots of any team in the league. But we shoot the 2nd most 3s (behind the Knicks) and third most at the rim (behind Denver and Detroit). From the idiot statgeek perspective, those are the best shots on the floor.

By off RTG standards the Rockets are 4th.

But this needs to be adjusted for pace which means technically Houston is 10th.

The ones Patterson and Aldridge were shooting last night.

Patterson is the only Rocket to do it, but only because he's utterly ridiculously efficient at it. No other Rocket take many of those.

You can define it as 2-point field goal attempts that are 16+ feet out.

Lin's foot on the line 3, same risk, only 2/3 the reward as a 3 pt shot
Though he seems to be getting better at both hitting the 3 and avoiding the line
