Am I overrating D-Mo??

Well, the other day, I was watching a little League Pass, and I was getting a bit jealous of some of the teams out there with great big men prospects - like Utah with Favors and Detroit with Drummond. Trying to think how in the heck can the Rockets get a hold of one of those....Then, I saw the end of Golden State game, and D-Mo reminds me he's still on the team. Knocks down a three with ease and executes one of the prettiest post moves I've seen in a while. Would I be overrating D-Mo if I put him in the category of a Favors for post offensive potential? I know they are different styles and all that, but can D-Mo be that star we'd like down low (and I actually like 2Pat and Morris believe it or not)?? Let's just forget about that airball at the end of last night's game. How complete is his post game? Does he have the hook shot, the fade-away, all the counters, etc?

Honestly, I have no idea. And watching old video from overseas leagues doesn't help much.

I do believe that there would be a spot in the rotation for DMo if the Rockets brass believed what you do about him. That doesn't mean you're necessarily wrong, though.

D-mo is a minus on defense, we already have enough people shooting the 3s, and Ppat and Asik have about the same amount of post moves. If Favors was on our roster you can bet he'd be in our rotation.

You have absolutely no way at all of knowing that. Period.

Wait, I read that post too fast. Asik can't compare to D-Mo in post moves. Even I know that. And I'm pretty Ppat can't either. But you are probably right about Favors being in our rotation.......I really like that player.......

Right now he's showing the potential to be Bargnani with a little more passing and a little more post game. That's about it right now. Could he become more? Yes. But his defense is beyond a joke. He's not a prospect right now. He's simply a project.

DMo is our best young asset. Morey will not trade a 7 footer with really good post up skills and good motor for any chump. He has the highest potential of all our players sans Harden and seems like he has a proper head in check to hopefully realize that ceiling someday.
    Dmo will get his chance.

Much like Morris played little to no minutes his rookie year we are seeing the same thing with DMo and TJ. We will not know if he is being Overratted, underrated, a great offensive force or if he is a plus or minus defender until he gets some legit time in the rotation.

Dmo could bve everything we need offensively. Already has the best post moves of anyone on the team, can stretch the floor and knock down the 3 pt shot and he he's mobile, capable of getting out and running the floor.

The problem is defensively. He's very slim so he would get abused by most power forwards in the NBA and we still dont know if he knows all the rotations.

I dont think we will see much of him in real time this year barring a trade of 2Pat and/or Morris. He will need to bulk up in offseason so he can hang defensively.

I think DMo has great potential. He is a legit 7 footer with real fast feet, great post moves and a really nice shooting touch.

BUT his body is not there yet. He gets pushed around easily. And he is overwhelmed by the speed of the game and the competition. He often looks lost out there and out of position.

I think we will see next year what he can do. Let him get accustomed to the game this year and lets get his body where it needs to be next off season. He might be real special or he might be out of the league soon. But at least he is someone to be excited about. Just give him time.

Well Morris proved coach was right to not play him, so far at least. I don't follow Morris, can you explain why he was the 14th pick?

He was 14th because of his size, athleticism and play at Kansas.

The guy is young and still developing. He's got all the talent necessary to become an outstanding 4. He already has the best post moves on our team. He's got a long way to go on defense, but he can get there. I think you hold onto him and give him backup minutes at the 4 next year. Morris has to go.

D-mo is a boss point. As well as part of Morey's Championship plan. At some point he will ave like 23 and 9

DMo and Greg Smith are our two best post players by far, but both are minuses on the defensive end. DMo because he gets pushed around, and Smith because he just hasn't figured it out.

If either can become a serviceable defender, they will START someday, even if it's not with the Rockets.

D-mo hands down has moves but can he execute them while being guarded by a physical defender. He gets pushed and loses his stability easily.
He's worried about speed like if he's fast already

A slow athlete is a weak athlete.

I don't watch any college or euro ball so I keep my mouf shut.
But as soon as I saw dem draft videos and summer league videos I was like dayummmmmm, he overrated.

and he was 14th because of somewhat tweener/no real position in NBA, short wingspan for his size,,

i said that because he's one of the offensive machine in the college and should really go higher in the draft if he were taller/longer,,

as for D Mo, he's got some offensive moves alright, but his defense and body really really need work,, i really have no problem for developing him slowly, because Patterson and Morris is okay in the rotation (not good or great, just okay),, hopefully D Mo will surpass them in near future,,
