I have one on my thumb and it has been killing me. i only know where it is, but whatever is causing it is so thin that I can't see it no matter how closely I inspect. It's possible it may even be a tiny grain or sliver of glass. tweezers are useless since there's nothing to grab onto. Someone please shoot me an idea. :(

Probably have to cut it open at the nearest hospital. Brings lots of bandaid.

This plus possibly a razor blade. You could use lidocaine (topical, get it in the dental area of the store) to deaden it a little as you work. It's going to suck, but nut up, you can do it, brother.

If you get someone else to do it, don't use your SO...people turn into complete p*****s around their SOs.

I have also used fingernail cutters in the past. Take some skin off the top.

This. Take a chunk out where you feel the pain, pray that you nabbed the glass with the skin. Don't get crazy though cutting too deep

I use a straight pin to remove the top layer of skin around the area of the splinter until the splinter is tweezable.

Don't forget to tell all your friends about your bravery and perseverance after you get it out.

before trying surgery, get some Espon Salt and pour a bunch in a glass of hot water. Soak your thumb in that for a while until you prune up. It could rise to surface to make tweezers easier.

Anyhow, this is also good preparation for the surgical solution.
