Berman asking a paragraph of a question was irritating in itself...all he had to do was ask was a question... Like i would irritated if a random reporter asked me if my players were gonna dial it down before the break...just sayin...like the players arent showing any indication that they are not playing competitively...Berman's question was just ret.urded... Mchale has always been a smart ass, but thats who he is...and he does have some good quotable material. JVG was the best, but Mchale is kinda funny as well...
Couldn't watch the video but isn't that a legit question? Last year they were playing great before the break , even prompting McHale to congratulate the team and say he was proud of them , but just one game after the break , they go on a costly 5 game losing streak.
They all ask dumb questions, they're just trying to get soundbites. That's their job. McHale's been around long enough to know that and I don't think he should've reacted the way he did. But he's human and we all have bad days, I suppose. Berman was saying something to him at the end and it got cut off. I wonder what it was.
It was a fair question if you put it in the context of comments made both by Lin and Harden in their interviews. Harden interview http://www.nba.com/rockets/video/2013/02/08/ZOOM0003MOV-2377415 Lin interview http://www.nba.com/rockets/video/2013/02/08/ZOOM0001MOV-2377413
McHale likes to dance a sidestep, but for questions that have like no level of scandal. What would it hurt to say that he tries to push his team harder to not get lazy around the break? He really has to reword it and get defensive? I remember McHale acting this way to whoever asked him a question about the Vipers being a sort of minor league or farm system the way they're used by the Rockets and McHale said something with attitude like "that's baseball, this is basketball." Maybe Berman will be mad enough to give us a scoop.
Is this just the way Coach McHale is or is the Houston media so bad that they deserve that kind of treatment? From the interviews I've seen, Coach McHale is very sarcastic to them Either way this is hilarious LOL it's just Berman's pissed off expression and his "they weren't that bad okay! ", looked like he wanted to cry for a minute.
The question was valid but so was the answer. Berman was suggesting that the Rockets might slip and McHale replied that it was a ridiculous idea. I would have done the same. Why should a coach say, "Yeah, the likelihood that we're gonna lose is increasing right now"? The later question was dumber, basically "How can you make them win every game?" And the answer was right. "If I knew, I'd be doing it!"
I heard Berman say "they weren't that damn bad". Not sure what he said at the end, but you can tell he was irritated. lol.
I watched this 4x and he definitely says "They weren't that DAMN bad" at the end, and then McHale says "Yes they were..." and Berman begins to retort but it gets cut off. Berman was clearly PO'ed.
youre right...lol Seeing Berman reminds me of a geeky guy trying to act cool, and then gets clowned on, tries to act tough, and then gets shot down again...lollllll and im not talking about me...
"They weren't that damn bad" Stfu Berman, it's your job to come up with good questions so do it next time.
I blame the fans for all this. I mean seriously, as a coach, you have to hear the same damn questions after every game... at least 82 games each year. As a reporter, you have to come up with some question that is thought-provoking, that hasn't been asked 100 times already this season or the past decades. You've got two sarcastic, pissed-off groups of people there... and justifiably so. What's worse is that in the end, the fans have heard it all before and probably just think it's the same ol' blah blah over and over again.
