So Lin is good at chest passes and bounce passes? He is better passing full court and stuff and even the best missed passes in the skills challenge. His speed will serve him well but it's not about speed. It's about the skills. It's always on a miss or make bases. Any player can make all their passes and shots or miss all their passes and shots. Speed doesn't really do anything here. I'm rooting for Lin cause it's Houston. I just think Parker is the most skilled in this event and has been in the event before.
whether he will embarrass himself or not, we can safely assume that he will practice his passing skills
True, many say that teams will expose Lin and eat him alive. In this contest, he will expose himself with turnovers and airballs with on one guarding him.
A nice group of guards! I like. Tony has the experience advantage, but I still think our Jeremy will do very well This is always the most fun event for me, though I hate it when players act like they're just ~too kewl and above it and don't really try, Irving come to mind.
hahaha.. actually i think this will be the one time where players will actually try - no one wants to finish behind a slow, non-athletic asian guy. it's no different then what goes on at your local ymca. on the other hand, i can also see guys dogging it just so they can say "nah i wasn't even trying anyway".
My predictions: If Lin does well: LOF-"See, told you he's an elite PG with elite skills." LOH-"meh. Meaningless exhibition that proves nothing." If Lin does poorly: LOH- "See, told you he's a scrub." LOF-"meh. Meaningless exhibition that proves nothing."
Muhahaha called it! I wonder who is going to win this. Likely Parker he has been doing that competition for years.
If Lin wins his foundation is giving all the children their scholarships. If Lin loses he's giving his child their $25,000 scholarship. To those that say these guards don't try, totally not true. A lot of it is luck just because the passes can go in and out, but if you've watched in the past you see them catching their breath after just a casual go through. It looks slow on TV but everyone's trying to at least advance. Athletes have pride, they care.
How come they chose Jeff Teague in stead of Greivis Vasquez? I thought Vasquez is much more impressive this season than Teague.
I'm just happy that someone from the Rockets will be involved in the Skills Challenge. I'm sure all that were invited will do well.
I think the idea is young, up and coming point guards against Tony Parker, the champ. It's not like Lin, Knight, or Teague have been that great.
Last year, they had Deron Williams and Rondo in the contest. If this year is to choose young and upcoming, I thought Ricky Rubio would be one of the best candidates.
pretty sure they wanted rubio and wall in there, but since they just came back from injury and haven't found their shot, it would be embarrassing for the players and the league to see them try to hit that jumpshot...
John Wall participated last year. So I can understand he is not in this year plus he just came back from injury. But Rubio already played for almost two months with heave minutes recently. Don't think his injury would be a concern and I believe they just decided the list recently. So I really wonder what's the thought process behind the list, not that this is such an important event, just curious.
