He was first option with a chance to build his own legacy in Orlando too. That worked out well.

Dwight Howard may be the biggest douche bag in the league, but he is still a once in a generation centre (which is actually kinda sad), with huge impact on both ends of the floor. I guess the one knock is you can't play him in the fourth, but you can play Bynum, which is a huge factor for clutch defence, but not really that big a deal on offense with everything in the clutch running through our guards. Still, Howard has been to the finals.
Even with his injuries, he'd make us contenders. I don't think Bynum would

Were talking about Orlando that went to the Championship, with a average supporting cast.. Harden would be one of the best players he's played with, and people will change if put in a good situation, where they feel comfortable

Neither one, because of health issues. After Yao, the Rockets should be very careful about maxing out a big who's missed significant time due to injuries. Plus, Howard has destroyed his reputation over the last twelve months, and Bynum just looks dumb as a box of rocks.

Does not compute. What if both players had small jet propulsion systems built into their feet? Bynum is broken. That won't change. Who cares how could he could have been if he can't play? Howard might be broken too.

You don't mess with knees. I'd take Bynum...but anybody taking him OVER Howard is deranged.

Poll needs a neither option. I don't want either at a max contract because of injury concerns. I also have concerns about Howard's attitude and if he would be a locker-room cancer if he is unhappy. I think Howard is the type of guy who will always think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence and will always become unhappy in time no matter what team he is on.

None of them. We are a basketball team not a hospital.

They beat the 76ers without Howard for one game after he was an idiot and threw an elbow at Dalembert. Yeah, he dropped 40 on Cleveland, but that was not the norm for him. He scored less than 20 in 12 of the 23 playoff games. He did rebound well, but no better than Asik gives us on a nightly basis. Overall, they got to the finals with some crazy 3 point shooting and eventually lost to the Lakers. And c'mon, you have to give Rafer credit for the huge boost he gave them. ;)

We might as well go after Greg Oden.

They also had the third best defense in those playoffs. But that was all Rafer, right?

The tongue-in-cheek nature of the Rafer comment flew right over your head, I suppose, although he did average a team best 1.43 steals per game in the playoffs. Howard certainly helps anchor a D (DPoY that year), there's no doubt there, but Asik is nearly as good in that role. Also, they had Courtney Lee and Rashard Lewis, both of whom are above average defenders and a good overall scheme against everyone other than the Lakers.

Neither one will make an impact as much as Omer Asik.

Dwight is no longer the elite defensive and rebounding monster he used to be.

Bynum, well... he's not really interested.

Asik on the other hand has all the right boxes ticked.

Size, athleticism, basketball IQ, defense IQ, work ethic, passing, etc.

The guy is really only just getting started.

In 2 or 3 years Omer Asik will be elite (can single handedly rebound for a team)

    a defensive anchor

    much improved on offense

    still improving on the FTs.

I'd pass on both the big free agents mentioned, both are on their decline, are dangerously regularly unhealthy and cost an arm, an arm, a leg and a leg which practically will leave us with nothing.

    So I say pass.

    Omer Asik please.
