This guy is a pure idiot hired mainly on player notoriety with some GM experience. His game plan is to take 3s and against the elite talent he takes the ball out of the starting pg's hands. Doesn't know how to motivate and work with big men despite being a legendary big man himself. Asik plays on pure instincts and talent and I doubt he's gotten anything from McHale.
Kind of.. There seems to be a pattern that every time we face an elite defense (OKC, Spurs, Heat etc) we quickly quit our team ball, and stick to it until hitting a wall. Hopefully this time they will ask their players to watch the tapes again. The coaches just seem to have low confidence about their own perimeter game, and don't want to take the risk of playing D'Mo or Smith at 4.
I believe that it is very telling that rookie posters constantly bash McHale while the much more experienced posters say that McHale is doing a great job. Reading back through the last few pages of comments I am completely dumbfounded at the ignorance and lack of understanding displayed in these rookie posts. Over half of them would just be complete lies if the rookie had known enough to actually fabricate the lie. Just to set matters straight McHale and his staff are doing a phenomenal job this year. The growth of the youngest squad in the NBA has been amazing. The complexity and the preciseness of the offense is becoming a thing of beauty. McHale will be head coach until he decides to leave. I hope it is a long way off. Get used to it. Being ignorant is one thing. Constantly displaying ignorance for all of the world to see is quite another.
I don't want this to get buried in the thread: But, yeah, fire his ass and replace him with people from this thread.
Maybe the new posters actually give more credit to the players and want them to win more this season. I think the Rockets should have won more games if they had a better coach. We'll see if McHale will remain the head coach next season. Btw, having a new join date doesn't necessarily mean having less basketball knowledge than others with earlier join dates. I think that is ignorance.
Overall I like the job he has been doing earlier in the season I was just furious how we had a handful of winning games, our team is better then our record shows, this is his only second year, and a new roster so it takes time. I wouldnt let him go unless we got Sloan or a coach of that stature.
I think my favorite idiotic yet often repeated statement by the "newer fans" is: "XXX needs to set harder screens" This isn't football, you don't throw blocks on an NBA court. A screener doesn't move or its an offensive foul. All the blame is just trying to scapegoat someone to excuse Lin's mediocre play.
Hear hear. 1. Asik's butterfingers. 2. Harden's selfishness. 3. McHale's racism. 4. Kelvin Sampson's racism. 5. Lack of people in the Toyota Centre. Reason Lin can't shoot a 3.
I like Coach McHale. I may not always understand or agree with the decisions he makes but one thing I know for sure is that he knows a heck of a lot more about the game than I ever will. I certainly don’t want him fired and I think he’s done a great job with such a young, inexperienced team. That said, I do understand the frustration of those who would like to hear him publicly take some responsibility, blame, whatever, when the team loses, especially if they are NYers. Every time I hear Woodson’s post-game comments on the news after a Knicks loss, he is taking at least some responsibility for the outcome of the game…Last night’s game, they lost to the Wizards, Woodson said they were “awful across the board…starting with me.” I must admit that I have not seen or heard all of Coach McHale’s post-game comments. Has he ever publicly taken at least partial responsibility for a loss? Do reporters ever ask him in post-game if he feels he should have done things differently in a game after a loss? If they do, what does he say? Thanks!
I cant stand Mcfuc%boy because he is going to ruin my dude T-Jones career and I have allways been a ROCKETS fan and allways hated the celtics but I have to admit that he is doing a good job with this team. I still hope we trade Jones before its too late. I will still be a Rockets fan but they will regret the Jones situation.
It's not all McHale's fault. The Rockets have a tendency to sit rookies for I believe is two reasons: 1. McHale wants them to earn their playing time and 2. Morey doesn't want to allow the rookies to shine so they will be kept out of trade talks. I bet when White returns, he will not have playing time unless a big trade occurs that clears depth.
I started a thread on the topic. Go read it. And read the cited article. You are just another newbie nitwit.
Hmmm, strange, reading back the last few pages I see veteran posters bashing him as well. For example: A 2000 member: A 2002 member: A 2003 member: A 2006 member: A 2010 member: And this was earlier last year, before Lin was even on our team (if that's what you're implying): A few 2007 members: A 2008 member: A 2009 member:
The only poster I have read in the above list once stated "Battier will never ever play 35 minutes a game on a championship team". Not very active for the most part and not well known to me. I would take you more seriously if you had quotes from Clutch and others of his standing. Go, please read my new thread on McHale.
I would have agreed with you back in Nov. But since McHale as allowed the players more freedom to create and dribble outside his system - since he's given them more flexibility - they have flourished and his system actually looks a lot better now. Regardless - he deserves credits for his adjustments.
