Veronica Mars was a VERY underrated show. Kudos.

    Breaking Bad is number one.

Followed by these four in no particular order:

The Wire - Would have been one, if not for the lame season five.

Dexter - Chance at the one spot if they can magically erase season five and six.

Game of Thrones - Only two seasons in, but could end up as number one.

Homeland - See GOT. Though I doubt they can keep this up.

Special mention to Spartacus. Love this freakin show!!

Lost - If only the first two seasons count.

Two pages in and no one's mentioned the Shield.

Though the Shield was good, its overshadowed by a better cop drama (The Wire)

Since my top 5 have been mentioned, I'll spread some love around to some shows not mentioned yet in a top 5.
    1. Mad men- mentioned but not in anybody's top 5. Arguably the best show on TV now (BB and GOT are also certain contenders)
    2. Doctor who
    3. Buffy the vampire slayer- started slowly, ended poorly but the middle seasons 3-5 were great.
    4. Gilmore Girls- yeah I'm a guy who's not afraid to say he loved Gilmore Girls. I only watched up until about half way through Rorys first year of college, but I loved the writing, really great snappy dialogue.
    5. Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett version)- while not as great as the new series, still great for a more traditional Holmes.

I HATE Gilmore girls the dialogue was the worst part. No one talks like that, and if they did I would hitting a woman for the first time in my life.

Actually felt the dialogue and fairly decent supporting casting was the only thing that kept it from being basically a kids' show, allowed for some comedic flexibility despite some fairly simplistic and redundant plots in a G-Rated setting.

Well if you talk like you write, I can understand why you hate good dialogue. Verbs are so unnecessary.

What the hell? Are you a Houston hater? Those would easily be my least favorite of all time.
