Yeah, usually when Lin does poorly the team has a hard time winning games. Miami knows this, so they trapped him all game. It's on Lin to learn how to beat those traps and not be easily stifled.
Yeah, essentially they rather have Harden score a lot (which happened yesterday) but not allow the team offense flow (which Lin is responsible for). The Rockets are more dangerous when everyone gets into the offense and score.
Lin was Miami's ATM last night. They trapped him and it was an instant turnover at least twice in a row that led to easy baskets. He became a liability on the floor.
He only had 2 last night. Don't make it sound like he absolutely got destroyed whenever he had the ball. He had the ball alot and he only really got trapped 2 times and turned it over for an easy basket. It's okay that you don't agree with the opinion that trapping Lin was a key for Miami to slow their team down because they think Lin is a huge contribution. But it's just stupid to overexaggerate a moment to prove an illogical point.
George Karl will put A.I on him. Grizzlies have time and time again guarder lin with tony allen. Coach thibbs even went with guarding lin with Deng. That's some serious respect to a young player coming to a new situation, adjusting to a new role. I know that for odd reasons, some of you people don't like that guy. It's natural. We all do it. With me, it's westbrook something about him just irks me. But you might want to wait before making inept knee jerk remarks about this guy. He clearly possesses the court vision and patience to play POINT. With experience the shot will come and so will the immature jumping into traffic with no place to go with the ball.
This. Coaching staff can only do so much, in the end Lin is the one executing the action on court. Still in his first year, and you see a slight difference then the last two times he played Miami. Even people who aren't experts can see the difference with which Miami plays Lin. They played Lin like it was game 7 in playoffs. Honestly Lin needs more of that kind of pressure so he can learn and figure out how to play it.
Harden always scores a lot(5th in the league in scoring) and every starter had at least 13 points. Lin was the only starter who didn't shoot at least 50% from the field, but he still got to the line 6 times and sank them all. The starters scored and got involved. The bench struggled, but you can't expect such a young bench missing their best 3 point shooter to play well all the time. We ran into a superior team on the road and lost, simple as that.
This too. lol. A lot of teams put their best defenders on Harden (obviously), and also on Lin. Miami is a tough defense for PGs to compete, and Lin is still in his first year. A lot of respect and attention is given to Lin by opposing team defenses and he's only a first year player. That in itself is a huge sign that of Lin's potential, but this is still growing pains for him.
Yes, but I was referring to the Heat's game plan and why they want to double team Lin. The fact that it was a close game meant that their plan didn't totally work. If the Rockets had a few defensive stops or a few calls that went their way, the outcome might be different.
No sensitivity at all. Rockets have tried that strategy many times. All players played have value. Defenses do what its best for their personnel to limit opposing team. If trapping PG works, they will do it.
Prey on the weak. It doesn't matter who it is. If another team thinks they can exploit a player they'll keep on doing it until they can't.
No one can doubt that Lin needs to work on his ball handling. It's the main reason he has so much trouble with hard double teams. Just watch..he loses control of the ball because he is trying to 1) avoid 2 defenders 2) scan the court for an open teammate and 3) keep his dribble alive. He has trouble doing all 3 of them if the defenders are ridiculous athletes like Lebron+anyone else. He knows it..which is why he backed off the aggression. Still a first year player and will get better at handling the double teams. Probably end up passing out of it quickly ala Old Jason Kidd. That would be fine and would punish the other team plenty.
Oh please, I have never seen a team trap a player for the whole game if that player was weak. I have no idea where you even get this idea. If the player is weak, the team gives the guy a lot of freedom because they know the player can't do anything. If he was so weak, he wouldn't even have the ball in his hands to begin with.
I'm really not happy that the Rockets are not on TV with that stupid CSN issue. Dous NE1 know when this is going to be over so we can watch games???
Lin had only 2 turnovers in 32 minutes so I guess he didn't do too badly against the traps. Actually only having 2 turnovers is probably why we lost - he didn't have the ball enough & he didn't play enough minutes.
Tell me what your point is then. From what I got is that you were responding to my quote implying that the PG position is weak, that's why they keyed in on him to force him mistakes. If that is not what you wanted to say. Please elaborate.
