I must say that was the worst I have seen the US side look in years, very little possession, no sense of urgency, and poor build ups. And worst of all, gaping holes on defense. Jurgy better get busy.. DD
When are Donovan, Bocanegra, and Cherundolo coming back? Not much too look forward to for USA soccer. all the best players are over or pushing 30. The guys that are supposed to be the next guys up are lazy and clueless. Why does Jozy play so well over seas and plays so terribly on the national team?
F***in bloody hell. Another poor defensive showing. Really no excuse for Boca not to have started that game unless he was hurt or not fit. If that was the case, he shouldn't have been called in. It's a terrible habit they have of dropping way to deep as the other team is coming forward. They create too much space between the backs and the mids. I realize it was in the 90's and most of the players are coming out of Europe where it's no where near that hot. It was clear after about the 60th minute that it wasn't going to end pretty. But to blow all of your subs by the 66th? I don't understand that move. Should have come away with at least a point.
I believe they said the temp was 84 degrees and humid. Also, a lack of speed on the USA, I know Donovan is aloof, but dang it, he is so important to the US team. We can not afford to have one of our two or three best players sitting out, we don't have that depth as a nation, yet. DD
Missed the game, but this certainly puts a damper on any sudden improvements in the team for me. (probably a good thing to get it out of the way early.)
Disappointing, but not altogether surprising. Honduras is going to be a real player in CONCACAF for the foreseeable future and even when the teams in Central America are bad, it's tough to go down there and win.
Didn't see this game, but what about the Canada match we just had? Was today really worse or do you not count it?
I was at that game with my 10 year old, so while the game sucked, for me it was a lifetime experience. And we got drenched at the end and had to drive back to Austin wet....glorious ! DD
I told you Jamaica was to be taken seriously. They're gonna run all over the other teams. Bad game by Mexico. No finishing power... not enough to beat a good Jamaican back line. Hats off to the Reggae Boys. EDIT from another thread: Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen...
Mexico played bad, the defense played really bad, it was good Jamaica didnt know how to finish it, or the score would be so much different, Jamaica could won, and maybe they would have deserved more the win over Mexico. so the two top teams, played bad today, this could be a very interesting qualifying round.
