If Les wants to "win now", I don't see the Rockets waiting 18 more months for their "second star".

milsap is the best player on this list and he would make the rockets even better.

BUT... i agree with clutch, i could see them making a move, but long term championship-wise - they don't need to force any moves that jeopardize the long term sustainability of this team.

it's more about finding the RIGHT player to pair harden with. not sure any one player on the list is the long term solution, unless morey pulls off a deal for a few players.

T wolves would probably give us love before they would give us pekovic. At the same time though, I'm pretty sure they would give us neither player unless we gave them one of our really good players, or trade a crap load full of role players (basically most of our power forwards just to get either of them.

Kevin garnett would be a great addition on this team.
Patterson, cole, douglas, white for kg

    Asik
    Garnett
    Parsons
    Harden
    Lin

That is a top 4-5 team this year and next

Pekovic would be my target also .... But I would not include Parsons (or the obvious Harden). Parsons is the glue that holds this team together .... and with Pekovic being an UFA after the season .... I'd just hold out until FA rather than give him up in a trade.

Everyone but Harden , Parsons and Asik are moving parts (assets) IMO.

Pecovik will be an unrestricted free agent after this season .... no guarantee they can retain him.

It's too bad the Rockets were too chicken to pick up Bird Man. Dude is already being a presence for Miami. Imagine this guy with the second unit giving Asik a breather? Great speed and athleticism despite his age and what seems to be a less than disciplined background. He's in great shape and better than Smith at the 5.

Heard that Portland may be open to trading JJ Hickson.

    Positives:

    -Young (24y/0)
    -Runs the floor well
    -Currently averaging 13/11
    -Strong/Athletic
-Excellent finisher around the basket as well as recently developed mid range game.
-Can play both 4 and 5

The tandem of Asik and Hickson in the front court would absolutely own the boards and make it tougher for opposing players to attack the paint against us.

I also like the idea of Pau Gasol and to imagine that we could have two 7 footers in the paint is a plus to me. I rather have Gasol if we did trade but i also agree with Clutch saying that we should wait. Rockets better not give josh Smith the max if they sign him.

Here's a list of 2013/2014free agents and if they're restricted or not

Best this year would be Dwight, cp, josh smith, millsap

Then for 2014 it's the super friends with eto (melo, wade, James, Kobe etc)

So 2014 posturing should be the most important because after that the players will be all above 30. If we want even a punchers chance we have to be contenders next year.

One perk we have is James harden, he will be the best young sg and that may bring in interest from the super friends.

The most important person affecting these next few years is Dwight. Depending if he stays in la or leaves will produce a big ripple affect. If he stays and Kobe expires la could go after James and the top tier players. Because there is no dominant center and Bynum not looking good Dwight is the biggest lure for a shot at any top 5 player.

I believe as an organization we stay pat this trade deadline unless we can get something cheap or someone expiring in 2014 (gasol, granger). Josh would be ok but not for the max and believe me someone will pay that for him.
