Delfino is the kind of player that a contending team might trade a 2nd round pick for OR the team trading him packages a 2nd round pick for roster space/tax reasons, ie limited trade value.

See, now I think that is a great question.

I pick Gasol between those two, mainly because he is exactly what this particular team needs (major upgrade at PF, veteran leadership, post game, outside shooter, can play center, good passer).

    Two things though:
    1) I think Granger might be the exact type of player the Lakers and D'Antoni would want in any Gasol trade (outside shooting small forward upgrade whose contract expires after next season). In fact, the 2nd thing I think when i see the Rockets mentioned for Granger is a three way deal for Gasol.

    2) The first thing I think when I hear Granger to Houston is that they might start Parsons at the 4. I am against this idea. I know there are a lot of metrics showing that lineups that put Parsons at the 4 are some of the best performing in the league, but they are a low sample size, and that is not the way to win close games or challenge teams in the playoffs.

Could be fun to watch though, and I think it would clinch the Rockets in the playoffs.

As for trading Parsons, unless we are getting Love or someone better (and, at this point, I do not include the now injury riddled Howard in that camp) it would be a huge mistake to move Parsons.

I like Granger, even if he has been inefficient. I know all of you guys hate it, but the small ball line up intrigues me with this team. The fact that he expires for the 2014 FA class is awesome too. If we can buy low, I say pull the trigger.

I sure hope they wouldn't give Parsons up in a deal for Granger alone. I'd look at a deal like Delfino, Douglas, Jones, Morris, and filler 2nd rd picks for him

Hard to see the Pacers moving on it, but exactly what I was thinking. Exchange DMo or TJones for White and maybe, if they get no better offers.

What the Pacers do get is more cap space, in the form of slightly north $5.4 million next year of extra space, if they want it.

Rockets give up very little, while retaining their prime really valuable trade assets - that they would actually trade - Parsons.

You have to find a way for the Rockets to take on 3 more of the Pacer's players. They already have 15 roster spots taken, and need to clear out room on their roster to take on those players.

The Pacers are a small market, cold weather team. It's very difficult for those teams to sign marquee players. That's why when they trade an All Star calibre player, they get equal value in return. He mightn't be widely considered a franchise player in this league, but he is their franchise player.

any deal that would ship out royce white of houston is a good deal imo....

Though I am wary of starting Parsons at the 4, might run him down should we do this

Actually just 2 since they are sending us Granger. They have two low salary players begging to get cut in Sam Young and Jeff Pendergraph.

I could see them make room with no problem.

Yeah I wasn't being entirely serious with that trade. I don't think any team would take Royce unless he came with a 1st round pick.

I'd hate to give up TJones or DMo, but with the current logjam at PF it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Inefficient was the wrong word. Decreasing efficiency (his TS% has dropped every year since 09). That being said, I'm still a fan.

I don't think that's been the case since they since Roy Hibbert to the MAx deal and the emergence of Paul George. Granger is not in their long term plans now.

morey said again and again that rox needs one more star to be a title contender. if granger were what morey means another star, i wouldn't be convinced that adding DG could help rox to reach the goal. harden and granger overlap too much. with granger and harden, the team offense would be built in a non-balance way, too much at wing.

I would LOVE to have Granger on board...he's probably the best stretch 3/4 we could possibly get with 13 mil a year....guess what, if it doesnt work out, we can always trade his expiring contract.

    Do it Morey.

I've thought all along that despite all the clamoring for a PF, that the Rockets are more likely to go for a SF in any trade/FA scenario. And have mentioned Granger and Iggy as possible examples. That said, I can't imagine that we'd have the best package. I wouldn't give up Asik or Parsons, and we have a dearth of 1st round picks. The best I can come up with is Delfino, Patterson(or any other PF on this team), future 1st, and perhaps a 3-way where we pry a 1st for something(Douglas, salary dump, etc.).

But I think there will be at least one other team willing to offer more than that.
