Jones and Motiejunas prefer playing in DLeague to sitting on bench in the NBA

Stupid McHale for making our rookies actually earn playing time.

Playing time should be given based on potential and draft position.

On-court and in-practice performance is overrated.

It's nice to see the great attitude that D-Mo and Jones have - they know they need to play to get better.

Yeah, I can't believe McHale is keeping his 22-year-old and 21-year-old rookies on the bench so that he can play a couple of "washed-up" 23-year-olds (Patterson, Morris) and a guy who just turned 22 (G.Smith)!

This team is young ACROSS THE BOARD. The 23-year-olds also need playing time to continue to develop, but they're more capable of making reliable plays than the rookies are right now.

    Give this some time.

D-Mo and Jones have more upside then those washed up 23-yr-old's, who seem to be allergic to rebounding ...

Hey Bima, don't go bringing logic into the equation! You know that aint appreciated round these parts. ;)

Obviously, if these guys were getting playing time the Rockets would be the number 1 seed right now. Damn Morey and Mchale for ruining our precious rookies.

This is just not true, some rookies play and some do not. A lot of it has to do with whether a team has an opening in the rotation or not. For the season Jeremy Lamb has played 64 minutes in the NBA, Terrence Jones has played 91 minutes, and DMo has played 51 minutes.

Other first round picks that aren't seeing many minutes include: Kendall Marshall with 96 minutes, Fab Melo has played 3 minutes, Jared Cunningham has played 26 minutes, Tony Wroten has played 126 minutes, Miles Plumlee has played 25 minutes, Arnett Moultrie has played 71 minutes, Perry Jones has played 127 minutes.

Not all teams play their rookies. If there is an opening they play, if there isn't then they play garbage minutes or go to the D-League. The rockets have the youngest team in the league and we can't play everyone at the same time. PPat and Morris are getting their turn, TJones and DMo will get their turn when the time is right.

I love the way the Rockets are using the the D-League. Our rookies are getting to practice with the Rockets and then get to play for the Vipers.

If we didnt land Harden I think McHale would have let these guys play and develop. But with James on board, its all about making the playoffs. So no room for developing Rooks.

How is it even possible to be a "washed up" NBA player in your 2nd and 3rd year in the leage at 23 years old?

Look, I get it, the Rockets MUST create some room at the 4 spot here at the trade deadline, Im not denying that. I think you could see multiple PF's get moved in deals, but you saying that 2Pat, Morris, & Smith are "washed up" proves that some people here are just straight up dillusional.

Oh, and Im not sure how you can call a 6'10" athletic 23 year old monster like Greg Smith "washed up" or low upside. It just goes to show you that fans contribute upside with draft position WAY too much. If you took away draft position, he might have the highest upside of anyone on the entire team.

Also, dont forget about the Lakers, and Timberwolves creating room for the Rockets in the playoff standings. If the Lakers were a dominant force, and the T-Wolves were healthy, there is a good chance the Rockets could have been 10th or 11th in the West, and had a different outlook on the remainder of the season... and that is WITH James Harden. Without James Harden, and with a healthy Western conference, its obvious that this wouldn't be much more than a rebuilding year.

What part of Motiejunas not being physically ready do people on this board not understand? The goal is to make the playoffs. D-mo needs to bulk up. Terrence Jones doesn't exactly fit with the team currently. Both those players need to progress and they will get time.

I honestly hear people doubting the Rockets method of developing players for years now. Look at all the players that have successfully developed with the Rockets:

    -Landry
    -Brooks
    -Parsons
    -Budinger
    -Patterson
-Morris has been leaps and bounds better than last season

The first five guys you named played all got pretty decent minutes their rookie years. As far as Morris goes, he didn't get enough playing time last year for us to have any idea what he was capable of. If anything it seems like the Rockets have had success with rookies that actually got a chance to play their first year. I understand that we have a log jam at the 4 so DMo and Jones aren't getting minutes but let's not point to an old strategy working as evidence that a new one will work too.

Those Rookies that got their chance their rookie year, mostly did not get PT until the second half of the season(Hint, Hint) after the trade deadline when Morey was able to create more space on the roster.

History shows us that Morey will continue to do this with players that are not in the teams long term plans. See Battier trade for Budinger, Rafer trade for Brooks, etc.

If you followed the teams closely last year, Morris actually did get a shot at PT after the trade deadline last season, but floundered quite bad when given a chance, and that affected his PT moving forward when McHale realized he wasn't going to help the team win down the stretch. But Yes, he absolutely did get a chance last season, despite what some think on this board.

How can u rebound if you are tasked to be a stretch 4? You are out of rebounding position when the shot went off. Then, the instruction is transition defense. After the shot was launched, you are in the 17ft area, what u gonna do? Run to the basket for the rebound or get back for transition D? Yeah, Harden and Lin has more rebounds that our forwards, know what? because the guards are the backcourt therefore they can delay a little going back for D.

No hint hint needed. That's why I mentioned the log jam at the 4, We will see if that changes after the trade deadline.

Morris didn't play nearly as terrible as your are making it out to be post trade deadline. And the chance you are talking about was never consistent but instead sporadic minutes here and there.

People talk like his game has greatly improved since last year but he isn't doing very much when he is on the court this year. Morris is just posting up behind the 3 pt line and shooting which is something that he has always been able to do.
