Twitter Reaction: Rockets announcers after MKG injury

If the Rockets are worried about Drexler being insensitive and filterless, why would they rehire Murphy?

 

First people use to whine about what the news media said.
Then it was on the color commentators like Charles Barkley, whenever he said "I don't think the Rockets will make the playoffs" it was like the President declaring DEFCON 10 here.

Now we've reached the low to caring about what random ass people with a twitter account says.

 

i don't understand what people are upset about?

 

homerism to the teams you work for is bad? Man people today are way to sensitive.

 

To put it bluntly:

Things didn't go the way they wanted and they can broadcast every worthless thought they have to the world on twitter.

 

Bullard with his 'crazy' comments earlier in the year. now Drexler with yet another insensitive blast? bring back Calvin Murphy to the TV crew fast!!

I don't get it. I didn't hear anything. Drexler and Bull expressed a lot of concern. When you express concern like that, then levity in a situation like that is acceptable. And they definitely were only joking about Drexler's story, not MKG at all.

Fortunately, MKG has been cleared to leave the hospital and will rejoin the team in Miami later today. Unfortunate if he must miss the BBVA Rising Stars All Star Challenge. Regardless, for this Cats' fan and MKG fan - glad he's been released and glad for the concerns and assistance from the Rockets' medical staff - regardless of this thread's contents, that was classy.

ergo, that might be the better thing to focus on rather than the appropriateness or not of announcers that at the time might not have known of the severity.

The momentum comments IMO are part of the game. I think the Cats' announcers (Steve Martin & Dell Curry) made a similar comment that they are all human and these things get into their heads.

 

I agree. They're fun an upbeat and makes the game interesting to listen to. Unlike a lot of commentators that are boring and sound like they are half dead.

 

That was a nerve wrecking moment the Bobcats, their fans, and all ration minded basketball and sports fans around the world. MKG didn't move at all since the point of impact, and Drexler said that himself too. The guy was out cold from getting hit in the back of the head, something which is illegal even in MMA due to the seriousness and lethalness of potential injury; and as the camera zoomed in on the players surrounding MKG, which were mostly Bobcats and, if I recall correctly, one or two Rockets, we could all see the grim and worried faces of the players, as if the truth of the matter was shoved right in front of their faces--that the competition, the sport, basketball, the game is merely a game, and fellow player of it may or may not have been permanently taken out, or injured.

And it was during that moment where the entire stadium fell silent, the Rockets commentators, particularly Drexler, was continuing to make lighthearted jokes.... Maybe people on twitter overreacted, but c'mon, the guys was knocked out, immobile, and had to be carried out in a stretcher! Yes, he's okay, but we didn't know that when he was on the ground cold with his entire team standing over him in dread.

You want an example of manufactured drama? Sports..Basketball... a game where two groups of sweaty men try to score and get on top of each other, and sleep each others' asses...

Anyone with NBA League Pass can replay the entire archive. I didn't notice anything live, and replayed the archive today.

They didn't say anything wrong. Bull and Drexler as ex players showed a lot sincere concern. But, as others have said, they went like 5-10 minutes of no game to fill with conversation. Drexler talked about how it happened to him, too.

The only thing of interest is how this is another example of how people use Twitter to make outrageous comments to get followers.

 

If the bobcats won, this would not happen as they will be focusing on celebrating a rare win
