40 posts and the only example of an incredulous position is skepticism at selling F-16s to the Muslim Brotherhood (crazy I know, beyond the pale)

    gotta love the D&D

Your post just made his point for him. No establishment of religion is not the same thing as no existence of religion.

It's why there are chaplains in Congress and the military.

    Nice try.

How about you respect the founders and the Constitution? i thought you were a strict originalist constitutionalist.

    Let Hannity know the same.

It's a hot topic. Madison, who wrote the first amendment, voted on bills to pay legislative chaplains during the time period when the 1st Amendment was being ratified, causing many to conclude he was cool with it.

Years later he was against them at all and said the practice violated the establishment clause.

The mentioned coworker and I tend to agree to disagree. I usually take his stuff with a shrug and vice versa.

But I have to listen to him rant about Obama every five seconds---my guns; our freedoms; he's a dictator; my stocks are going in the toilet; the IRS says middle class families will have to pay $20,000 per year for health insurance (that one floored me).

I usually just give him the, "Uh-hunh, yeah; uh-hunh, yeah", until he finishes. I think he assumes because I'm a white dude working at a Fortune 100 company that I automatically think Obama's the anti-Christ.

I can't get him to f*** off anymore than I can get you to f*** off. (Maybe he'll shut up now.) So I was allowed ONE moment to take a dig at him.

And why would I waste my time enumerating Glenn Beck's lunacies? I've already wasted time with you. Just go to youtube and type in Glenn Beck crazy and take your pick.

We "liberals" blah blah blah. Yeah, we just slap "right" in the argument and call it a day; just like you throw around the world "liberal" and such.

Ah, I see. You don't tolerate people who disagree with you. How....typical.

He is not credible, but he represents a HUGE part base on the right.

    Same with Bill'O and Rush.

The right tries to say that they are not part of their belief formation, but we are well aware that this is false.

Instead of having strong leadership to identify with, millions of conservatives follow the word of these douchelords.

Why are you telling the coworker Beck is crazy? I assuming to get him not to listen to Glen Beck ( listen to more people you find sane:rolleyes:)? Oh wait, then it might be logical to provide some examples. You must of had some other purpose, such as being an ass. You can spin it however you want, but if that was an actual conversation you had with a coworker then you are the least popular guy in the office. That's simply inappropriate behavior.

    Rashmon is liberal.

I most certainly do. Provide context. You are being dishonest.

Also why are you trying to attack posts in other threads?

That is a fantastic example because it is completely inaccurate. We are selling planes to the Egyptian military, you know, the organization which took the Muslim Brotherhood OUT of power in Egypt.

Really this got blown out of proportion. You hardcore conservatives are like a dog with a bone.

I don't memorize Glenn Beck's crap nor Ann Coulter's crap et al. I think a lot of what they say are simply meant to incite controversy. How much of it do they believe? Doesn't matter. They're laughing all the way to the bank.

Hell, FOX News won't even hire Glenn Beck. And FOX News' standards aren't that high.

    But, you want examples, fine.

Maybe you can post video of Glenn Beck and his crying jags, which don't exactly help his cause in looking sane?

Even Conservatives Think Glenn Beck Is Nuts

To most liberals and Democrats (and Americans), it goes without saying that Glenn Beck left sanity behind a very long time ago. His Acute Paranoia Revue, now daily fare on Fox News, is a testament to just how damaged the human brain can become when not given proper care.

Beck has distinguished himself by fantasizing about strangling Michael Moore and calling everyone who believes in global warming a socialist. But that just skims the surface of his sickness. Since landing at Fox he has devolved further into that bleak void of mindlessness than experts thought possible. Earlier this week a guest on his show lost consciousness on the air. Perhaps he was afraid that Beck might douse him gasoline and set him on fire, as he pretended to do to a guest last week.

Now, the master of the “Fear Chamber” is starting to arouse alarm in his fellow conservatives. Beck’s fixation on imagery that associates President Obama with Communism and Fascism (an ideological impossibility), along with his exhortations to rise up, fight back, and put a stake through the heart of the vampires in government, is making some devoted right-wingers decidedly nervous.

Charles Johnson runs a website called Little Green Footballs. For many years it has been regarded as one of the Internet’s most rabidly rightist destinations. But here is what Johnson is saying about Beck and Fox News now:

April 7: This turn toward the extreme right on the part of Fox News is troubling, and will achieve nothing in the long run except further marginalization of the GOP-unless people start behaving like adults instead of angry kids throwing tantrums and ranting about conspiracies and revolution.

April 15: They’ve taken a real turn to the hard right, and Glenn Beck, I think, is kind of riding that wave. I don’t know if he’s necessarily going to incite violence, but I do think it’s irresponsible. It kind of drags down the discourse to a level that I, for one, am not comfortable with.”

April 16: [re: Beck] as if being an alcoholic, weeping, ranting, creationist talk show host who idolizes John Birchers and Ron Paul is a real accomplishment [...] Glenn Beck is a punk.

Beck seems to be getting spooked by his own rhetoric. He has begun making plaintive pleas to his viewers to dissuade them from acting out violently. He even held up a photo of Martin Luther King as he called for a peaceful overthrowing of the tyrants that are bent on destroying America.

What do you suppose gave him the impression that he needed to dial down the crazy on his audience? Do you think he is the sort of fellow who would succumb to criticism from lefties that he has been to reckless? Do you think he is afraid that the Department of Homeland Security might label him an extremist? Or is it more likely that he was admonished by his bosses who, while in agreement with his rants, are more worried about civil liability should the network be linked to a McVeigh-ish loner who shares Beck’s delusions?

Whatever. You know that when the proprietor of Little Green Footballs gets twitchy standing next to you, it is fairly certain that you have exceeded your quota of cuckoo.
