As a positive genre and influence on pop culture. When is was in college in the nineties the pop vs. underground argument was at its height. the basic argument from the pop side is that underground was unlistenable. i tended to agree but i still listened to a lot of underground (and no i'm not up on current stuff but feel free to post a bunch of youtubes of irrelevant artists). mos def even though probably didn't get as much radio play as it should have is an album that can truly bridge the gap. his style is the closest to a good mainstream artist while still keeping his substance.

I love this album, sorry i'm listening to it on youtube and i forgot how good it actually was.

How do you pronounce his name?

Is it supposed to be short for "most definitely" or moss-def?

    First option.

I'm far from knowledgeable in the subject but Black Star is by far my favorite Hip Hop album, thanks for reminding me to go back and check BOBS, I have leaned more on Kweli's trajectory.

Love this album. Still in my play rotation. Umi Says, Ms. Fat Booty, the prayer/track to open the album. Just love it.

And I agree that he mailed in The New Danger.

I agree, it's a great album. I haven't listened to it in a while, but that will definitely change after reading this thread.
