With the guard roster that we have right now, who should be our backup pg? I'm going with Beverley. Faster, more athletic and is a good defender. He also has better court vision than Douglas who has tunnel vision many times on offense. Douglas has had his moments but is largely inconsistent and is useless when his shots aren't falling. Mchale should start using Beverley again like he did earlier.
Kind of prefer Douglas experience since I want us to go for a playoff run at this point and we sucked when the coaches tried to stick young Beverly in there earlier.
Beverley is a good player, he just needs some experience playing with our guys. Douglas is really bad, but he's good when you give him 2 minute spurts like McHale done tonight. Play him for too long and the offense becomes stagnant.
Beverley is the better PG, but I like Douglas for the role better. With Lin and Harden's minutes being staggered, Douglas compliments Harden better when he's in there for Lin. All he needs to do is move along the perimeter and be ready to catch and shoot.
I prefer Beverley, TD tends to chuck the ball alot and I hardly see him passing anymore hes just another SG that plays good D. Beverley passes more and is good at the 3 point line like TD and also plays good defense. I want to see him more in the 2nd unit to show what he can offer.
Beverly should be the PG, TD should be playing back up on the 2 with Delfino and Anderson. Delfino should also slide over to the 3 occasionally to spell Parsons more. 44 minutes tonight for Parsons....
TD wants more scoring than D or assists because it is last year of his contract. I really hate to see him score more than Lin.
Play TD as much as possible and up his trading value. Beverley is a better PG by far. I cringe when TD tries to make something happens.
I don't get why ever since TD supposedly asked McHale about being benched suddenly it's Beverley who's in the doghouse. Why can't they both be backups? TD is more of a 2 anyways; he looked horrible running the point tonight.
If TD hits his 3s, he's in the best position here with Harden and Lin. He's not a PG and he doesn't have to be in Houston. That said, I trust him more than Beverley at this point to contribute something positive. I'd like to see Beverley with more practice.
Divide the minutes or whoever performs better during practices or games. But one thing has gotta change.. coach McHale has gotta change that substitution pattern he does with Lin particularly in the 1st quarter. He takes him out early in the first even when he's playing well. He also tends to bench him longer than expected once Douglas hits a jumper or two.
TD has been getting to the rim a lot lately. I am not sure if that's a good thing. What do you guys think?
I agree. I know it's the usual substitutions, but there have been times where Lin's been playing extremely well while Harden was fairly quiet, so why not switch them? Let Lin finish up the quarter then Harden can play all of the 2nd. Harden's such a great player that he usually plays well even after a slow start, but Lin is so inconsistent that you gotta ride him when he's hot.
