Excellent deal for a very good Antivirus program. Only 13 cents!

Its a one time use only key (OEM). Cant keep re-installing it using the same key.

    Click on the link below

    https://store.bitdefender.com/order...=1&CARD=2&PRODS=4559870&QTY=1&COUPON=2013-NYS

I recommend using paypal. Also click on the auto-renewal option to disable that. If you did not and have already placed your order and received your keys, no worries. I have added instructions below to take care of that.

IMPORTANT #1: Once you have used paypal to pay and have received your key,

    Go to your paypal account
    Click on My Profile
    Click on My Money
Click on Update for My pre-approved payments
    Click on Avangate BV
    Click on Cancel

This will cancel your pre-authorization for any future charges by them.

You will notice that you might have other merchants you have pre-authorized without even realizing. Now might be a good time to decide which ones you want to pre-authorizes and remove other merchants from the list. :)

    IMPORTANT #2:

    1) Check the email that you received which has the keys in it. Below the email, click on the "..." to expand the email if things are hidden. You should see something like this...

To get further payment support for your purchase, please sign-up using your email address xxxxxxxxx@xxx.com to Avangate myAccount at https://store.bitdefender.com/mya...2cd88f00b8.
    With Avangate myAccount you can:

    * View order details and keep track of your online orders status
    * Gain instant access to your online shopping history
    * Re-download license keys/codes* and download invoices
    * Manage your subscription payments (auto-renewal), if your product supports such an option.
    * Renew the license of the purchased software when it expires
    * Find support contact details such as phone and email addresses of software publishers
    * Download the installation files of the purchased software (if Download Insurance was also purchased with your product)

    2) Create an account to check on your order
    3) Click on the My Products Tab
    4) Under the Subscription status, click on Stop automatic license renewal.

These two methods will stop the pre-authorization from paypal for any future charges as well as stop your auto-renewal.

Thanks, ZBoy. This is legit? I probably sound like an idiot, but I've never heard of Bitdefender.

Kind of a dumb question, but
Will this work for Mac? Or do I have to buy the Antivirus software they carry? And if so, will the deal work with it?

dont really like Bit defender...tends to crash a lot...

If you just want free...just use AVG or Avast...

If you're on Windows, just use Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). Free, lightweight and does its job very well.

Bitdefender probably has one of the 2-3 best scanning engines out there, if not the best - other antivirus products have used their scanning engine. I almost decided to use it this year but stuck with Kaspersky. I decided to not use Bitdefender because I had issues with the GUI when using their free trial. When I disabled something, I couldn't re-enable it without killing the entire program or something - I forget. Considering this is for their Internet Security software and not just their AV software, you get a firewall thrown in if you want to use that. I can't vouch for their firewall as I've never used it, but other than that, this is a pretty good deal.

Security Essentials has performed pretty poorly in most of the recent tests I've read. I don't disagree there are free ones out there that are good, but not sure MSE is one of them.

Yes it is legit. Also, you are double safe if you use paypal.

It is a pretty good Anti-virus software.

Use this with Comodo Firewall (Free. Only download the firewall, not their entire package) and together they do a very good job. And use common sense while surfing, of course.

If I do get infected despite these measures, I then clean up my system with malwarebytes.

Bitdefender Anti-virus program is rated #1 according to this test....

    http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

Another report which rates it #1 in terms of protection.

    http://www.av-comparatives.org/images/docs/avc_sum_201212_en.pdf

Its usually in top 3 in most tests. Cant go wrong for $0.13

    NO.

Microsoft Security Essentials is weak. Very very weak and porous.

I will try to find the article which tested different Av programs.

very weak combo. Windows defender is terrible. Get Comodo Firewall. It is free and actually works. And as I have already mentioned, MSE is weak.

Microsoft Security Essentials resembles Rockets defense in its current state.

For those of you who have ordered it, please see my original post update. I have added instructions to cancel any pre-authorization on any future payments.

Nice. Bitdefender is one of the best out there along with Kaspersky and ZoneAlarm. Sweet deal.

Doesn't Malwarebytes have their own real-time protection? Why not get that instead if you're gonna keep it around for post-infection?

Meh, I would save the hassle of paying and download either AVG or Avast for free. They are about equal in my eyes.

Then, download Comodo (firewall only), CCleaner, Spybot, Malwarebytes, Flashblock and Adblock.

Comodo is double protection firewall with a good router, CCleaner will clean up files in places you've never thought about and clean your reg irregularities, Spybot will actually immunize from tens of thousands of files that will never reach your pc as well as scan PC for you, Malwarebytes will help scan occassionally as a secondary option to Spybot, Adblock will get rid of internet banners/ads/etc you've never wanted to see (say bye to p*rn ads) and Flashblock will give you a button to push so flash videos don't automatically pay until you want them to.

Pretty much, all these files plus being wise in my choices of websites have kept me from being infected with anything (that I know of) for years. Just keep updated and run your them regularly.

Malwarebytes cleans up malwares, which are different than viruses.

Anybody can get any antivirus software and most have free versions - it doesn't necessarily mean they're very good. McAfee, for example, isn't a very good AV program.

No. Viruses are a type of malware.
