I have a Panasonic plasma, no burn in, plus i never turn the settings up to over-saturated the picture. there could be minor image retention, but you just run that scroll bar thing for 1 minute and you're fine. rarely happens.
true, but current generation plasmas are very bright. not a 'plasma only fan' but I'm happy with my purchase. maybe the next one will be a 85 inch led
I'm sure plasmas have gotten better with burn in, but still not a fan of them. I've always been an LCD and LED guy. Personally I would buy an LED if possible. You can get them for cheap nowadays that it'll be worth it, the viewing angles are amazing. Plus they last longer and use less energy. LED is the new technology.
I only buy plasmas and after the end of Pioneer Elite Kuro plasmas, I decided to go with Panasonic. They make the best plasmas now. I have had 2 Panasonics so far. Both of them have been perfect with amazing true colors.
Try watching a movie or a sporting event on an LCD or led tv at 120hz, or even 240hz, then watch a good plasma blow it away at 600, with darker blacks and brighter whites, and usually for less than half the price..
Yep. I remember my parents paid for the price of a compact car more than 15 years ago when they bought their first plasma display. It's phenomenal how prices have changed (and how Japan was overtaken by China in making electronics). I had this same conversation with a TV repairman some time ago. I know, it was like meeting someone from another era. I felt bad hearing how bad his business had become. With rock bottom prices, manufacturers have really gone cheap on build quality and R&D. American consumers buy new TVs rather than getting them fixed. Most also don't care for great image quality either. That being said, when you play Blu Rays on a Kuro in a dim-room with comfy seats, a few grins come out, and you know you're not alone.
If I'm not mistaken, Panasonic used to make the Pioneer Kuro sets, so it only makes sense. I have a 5 year old 42 inch Viera that is still running like a champ and looks way better than some of the new LED sets I've seen (especially for sports).
Panasonic didnt make the Pioneer Kuro sets. When Pioneer decided to stop making TVs, they decided to sell their Kuro patents to Panasonic. Panasonic then started using the Kuro technologies on their sets.
I had a 55 Plasma inch Panasonic Viera that I had to sell when I recently moved. Loved that TV so much! Never had an issue with burn in or image retention. I scooped up the $699.99 60 inch Panasonic deal (including shipping) from Fry's in an instant.
