Lin is getting better as the season progresses. This dude is an elite learner. 4-5 different offenses in 3 years. Insane.
His upside is looking good. 68 games started in his entire career and his defense has already seen remarkable improvement. Technically played in 3 seasons for the NBA, but realistically not even fully played a full season yet as a starter. Probably would be averaging a couple more assists from dropped passes, but one can't complain given Lin's potential is slowly to show this season. There are negatives this season, but im sure everyone knows them, given the talk in clutchfans. Despite his lower usage rate, Lin is still putting up decent numbers, imagine if Mchale would actually green light even more freedom with Lin. No doubt Harden's ability would shine even more then they are now. His upside is looking good technically in his first season in the NBA.
You say his defense has shown remarkable improvement. I think he is ones of the top defenders on the team. He is better than Douglas. Douglas can harass the ball more coming up the court but Lin is a better overall defender.
great post. i agree he has a lot to improve on we all know it but i think he has solidified his place in the nba and his upside is ticking upwards again. Lin, Harden and basically everyone on this young rocket team need patience from fans. Not easy in this internet social media instant everything society.
Your absolutely right with the "patience", especially here on clutchfans...haha. I myself am victim to knee jerk as well. I can only imagine what they'll be like the end of this season, or the next! The waiting game can be a painful thing, but also an experience to enjoy.
Lin learning how to do high bounce passes to Asik. Asik always trying to break the rim when he dunks lol.
Rockets record when Lin has 6+ assists per game When Lin has six or more assists per game regardless of his other stats, Houston is 17-11, otherwise the record is 8-12.
I checked out his stat, seems like he has continued to improve on his 3p%: For the last 10 games: .375 For the last 8 games: .418
In the last game, the 3pt that he made was off the dribble, and the one that he missed was off the catch & shoot. He has attempted more off the dribble 3's recently and I think that probably contributed to his improved 3p% over the last few games.
Just thought I'd say, since Lin's scrubtastic November where he averaged 10 and 6 on 37% shooting, he's been averaging 13 and 6 on 45% shooting. If that doesn't say he's a player who definitely will get better as time goes on then I don't know what does.
http://www.csnhouston.com/basketbal...ts-celebrating-lunar-new-year-against-bobcats Lunar New Year for 2013 falls on February 10. However, the Rockets will be traveling on February 9 to play at Sacramento on the 10th. That Kings game, along with the Rockets' road games against the Warriors (February 12) and the Clippers (February 13), are part of the NBA's 23-game initiative to be televised live internationally and be live-streamed to go along with in-arena Lunar New Year celebrations.
Coming off a knee injury, new team for Lin and new team for most other team members, no training camp for most important player, coaching changes - showing improvement over the season is expected from a young player who puts in the work and has the right attitude. Getting a team that is on pace for 50 wins when few expected they would reach 40, whilst playing the 5th most difficult schedule, I think he is doing great. Yes, there are areas to improve, like there is for everyone. But those people ragging on his performance need to check their objectivity.
People were talking about Lin being able to hit 15 pts and 7 assists per game. I think that's a realistic goal for next year. There are only 7 players in the NBA currently averaging those numbers. 6 of them are point guards. Here's the list: 1. Chris Paul ------ 16.6/9.7 2. Jrue Holiday ---- 19.4/8.9 3. R Westbrook --- 22.5/8.4 4. Deron Williams -- 17.0/7.8 5. Tony Parker ---- 20.1/7.5 6. Jameer Nelson -- 15.3/7.4 7. LeBron James --- 26.5/7.1 (Small Forward) So, at least based on this year's stats, Lin would be in some good company if he could get to 15/7. I think with some work on Lin's 3-point shot, Asik working on his ability to catch and finish around the rim, and the team just having some more time to come together, I don't see why JLin can't get to 15/7. He's at like 12/6 right now, so it's not so far away.
Why cant' people be more logical like you when viewing Lin's play/stats and his realistic potential. Even a person with limited basketball knowledge can see it...but you have these fanatical Lin fans and blind haters posting rubbish posts. If he is avg. 12/6 in current system where ball is shared with Harden. It is not a far fetch idea that he can become a 15 pts and 7 assist guy. I even think these numbers reachable for him by end of this season (If he takes more control and takes more shots next year, I can see him improving slightly more).
If you take Lin's stat for the last four games when the Rockets got back to democratic ball and away from Harden ISO ball, Lin is averaging 15.25 pts and 7.25 assists. So Lin is already there as long as the Rockets share the ball.
I am quoting Phislamma not because I am disagreeing with him just using his numbers. If people base PG play strictly on points and assists, then they would take Jrue over Chris Paul, every day of the week. Now, put up your hands who would draft Jrue over Chris Paul if we had a do-over.
