Neither Dragic or Lin are worth the money their teams paid for them. Can we just leave it at that? They're each worth about $6 compared to the $8.5 they make. I still think Dragic is better, but when you consider the age difference, it's probably a wash. That said, I'm glad we're only on the hook for 3 years instead of 4. Even when Morey makes a mistake he gives himself a safety net to minimize the damage.
Dragic is worth his paycheck, although he may not be worth the disadvantages of a player option. Lowry would be worth his paycheck, if he could stay healthy, but I don't think he can. Jury is out on whether Lin is worth his paycheck. He's not worth his AAV this season, but that could change. He still has a relatively small amount of NBA experience.
OK, lets take his avg of $8.2m per. We're comparing him to Steve Nash, Rodney Stuckney, Goran Dragic, Devin Harris, George Hill and Mike Conley level in terms of salary. You don't think he slots in nicely with that group? Go a little cheaper to the $5m level which he is being paid this year and you get Kyle Lowry, Jarrett Jack, Andre Miller, Luke Ridnour. Hmmm.
Yeah, and $15 mil his last year. $8.2 is the average yearly salary over the life of the contract. You are being disingenuous.
You guys are judging his entire contract based on just over half of his first season. Who's the disingenuous one again?
Bro, if you are making over $8 mil per you need to play a lot better than Jeremy Lin has this year. This "give him a chance, the season's not over" excuse is getting tired. I like the guy personally and think he will improve, but if you think he's worth his contract...I can't help you.
You're just looking at the $8m number in isolation without the context. Which of those $8m PGs on my list would you take over Lin for the Rox? this year, next year? Nash maybe this year, but with all the games he's missed so far and his age, not even sure he will last the year. Conley - probably a good argument of him over Lin, maybe. The other guys, no way I would take any of them over Lin. Take the analysis a little further since many of the starting point guards are on rookie contracts (Jrue, Kyrie, Jennings, Kemba, Wall, Tyreke, Rubio, Lillard) and we all know rookie contracts do not represent market price. If you eliminate all the rookie contracts and just looked at average starter PG salary, I think you will get a number around $9m. This would put Lin's avg at below the overall league avg. I would argue that Lin's contract is not really a rookie limited contract and represented market value so at least we are comparing like for like. So we get Lin at below market $, are you saying he is a below avg starting PG? Really? That goes contrary to what a lot of experts are saying.
Dragic i think people need to wait & see because he is on a really bad team. When he is surrounded by talent it will be interesting to see how he does. But I think he is worth the salary. Lin is playing exactly at his salary so don't understand how you can say he isn't worth it. Compare his numbers to Conley who is making around what Lin is. Conley 34mill/4 yrs 13p 11fga 6a 2.8rbs 1.5s 2.0to Lin 25m/3yrs 12p 10fga 6a 4.1rb 1.7s 2.6to People seem to say he isn't worth it but nobody ever says what stats do you expect from a player on a 25m over 3 years so that he is worth that salary?
I understand what you are trying to say. But I don't think that Phenix is a bad team. They have quality players. If you give me great players, I can win championships, the arguments are just as pale as yours. I have nothing against Dragic, but I don't believe he has anything he has not displayed on the court yet. He is what he is right now, an average or slightly below avg PG.
I agree but I think he has potential though. Dragic has started in just as many NBA games as Lin has. Both players are pretty much in the same boat. No reason to think that they both can't get better. Dragic needs to improve on his PG skills (running a team) & Lin needs to improve on his shooting..
When did Gortat and Scola become bad players ? The Suns frontcourt offensive impact is better than that of the Rockets by an absolute mile. Also the Suns have got a good defensive specialist in PJ Tucker.
PER Conley: 17.18 Lin: 14.35 Ortg Conley: 108 Lin: 102 Drtg Lin: 105 Conley: 100 The rockets have a high pace, but lin isn't particularly very efficient. Hopefully he becomes more consistent the rest of the year.
Their front court is a defensive civ. And as we have established in this thread, their best player is on par with Lin. The Suns would be the Rockets if we never traded for Boner. If you were a real Rockets fan you'd be counting your lucky stars
ORTG & DRTG are team stats not individual stats. Conley's TS% is 54 Lin's TS% is 52 Average TS% for PG's 52% I don't need stats to tell me that Conley is the better player, I have said as much relentlessly. But Conley is also getting more $, is surrounded by significantly more talent & is the primary ball handler on his team & he has been in the NBA longer than Lin. Like I said Lin is playing exactly at his average paygrade. Average production. Don't understand why people like to say otherwise.
LOL I am trying to get some clarity as to what level of production people expect from Lin so that he can be worth his salary. Some like to say he isn't worth his salary but they don't say what level of production they expect so that he can be worth his salary.
