Wonder if Atlanta would do a straight up deal or if a third team would have to be brought in to make the deal work? I'm guessing something like a Patterson, Aldrich, Douglas, Jones and a pick for Smith and Tolliver would be ideal?
Look at the date on that tweet ... Its Jan 13th. Do you really think that Morey wouldnt at least consider a deal for Z-Bo and that Memphis wouldnt consider moving him instead of Gay ? It is a possibility .... teams have a lot of discussions that dont come to fruition. I wouldnt doubt that they (The Rockets) are at least exploring the possibilities and doing due diligence. Not that this means that anything will come of it .... Just that they could be interested.
IMO if a person has never been the first to break news of a trade, they have no credibility with rumors. Woj and Stein and maybe Marc Spears are the only national reporters I know of that can make that claim.
Also is it really news that we are interested in one of the top available players, let alone Josh Smith?
Kennedy also spread rumors the Suns were offering Gortat, which was quickly denied by everyone. I might unfollow him on twitter as well. Anyways, I can't imagine the Rockets would give up assets, then sign him to a max deal. (Smith claims he's a max player)
My sources tell me Houston is in discussion with every team, because Morey don't play around. ESPN hire me plz.
Why Alex Kennedy can still get people to believe his info is beyond me. He makes gazilion guesses and even then never gets any right. Not even by accident.
So, Kennedy first posted a rumor saying that PHX was working on a Smith trade. Later, a PHX-based writer John Gambadoro tweeted that there is "Zero" truth to it. Then Hoopsworld's Steve Kyler replied that the rumor is valid because ATL is doing research on Gortat and other PHX players. Now this stuff comes out. Seems pretty clear that someone from ATL is leaking rumors (true or not) to the Hoopsworld guys to make it look like there is a to of competition for a Smith trade. In other words, the Hoopsworld guys are either making stuff up pr just being used by a team for PR purpose.
Oops, looks like he only has one source. So obviously not true. The guys who really have the scoop have multiple sources, not just one.
