he just keeps pointing out gay is not a difference maker. pages and pages of it. I don't get the obsession with it, honestly. #iamconfused
Can someone tell me how much tickets usually are if I buy them at the gate? I've only been to two games (one at Toyota, one in Dallas) and I have always bought the tickets online weeks in advance. I'm in town this weekend and assumed they wouldn't sell out against the bobcats Ps. I know this is the wrong thread, but I need a quick answer so I came to the most active thread..
Kojirou, before I explain this to you for the last time, where have I ever said that Rudy Gay is a superstar? Please provide evidence or retract your false statement and apologize. Now back to your rant... No, you're not saying Gay played poorly, but you won't even say that he played a good, efficient game, which he did. He played well offensively and solid on the defensive end. If you watched the game, like you claim that you did, you would acknowledge that. As a matter of fact, the Raptors as a whole played good team defense. Rudy Gay WAS a key factor in their victory tonight. Besides him scoring a game-high 20 points coming off the bench in his first game for a new team, the spark he provided when he came in, lifted the team and they played noticeably better with him on the floor. If you were paying attention, you would have also noticed the energy in the building as the crowd got into it as well. Also, if you really watched the game and paid close attention, you would have seen how Gay, at times, would draw extra attention, which would open things up for others like DeRozan and Amir Johnson, especially when he had Grant Hill on him. Also, you bring up the Raptors hitting long range shots, Rudy Gay had 3 of their 12 three pointers...that's 25% of the total team output. Great "analysis" on your part. The rest of your post is irrelevant to what I was commenting on which was the game against the Clippers tonight. I get it that you're one of the many Rudy Gay haters, but you shouldn't be dishonest when it comes to your so-called analysis.
Kojorou, I think that's how you spell it. Gay brings a lot to the raptors. He is a superstar in the making. Just like Oj mato putting up big numbers before dirk came or Harden putting up number once he got a new role. Gays role in Memphis was limited as the talent they had did not compliment each other that well in the offense. The floor spacing in that sense wasn't that great when zbo, gasol, gay, and Allen played together as Allen can't really shoot. They still looked great but it was not a good fit for Gay.
Rudy Gay was good tonight. He is always pretty good. The Raptors are a better basketball team. They NEED their big man to develop into something truly special If they want to be anything more than mediocre, though. The Grizzlies look like a team built for the playoffs. Tony Allen and Tayshaun Prince are going to lock down the perimeter, and Randolph and Gasol are going to eat up every single frontline they see. They should go hire Jeff Van Gundy and play some dominant ugly ball. Tayshaun's court intelligence and leadership will have everyone forgetting about Rudy Gay rather quickly. Ed Davis is a score for them too. Someday soon, right before the playoffs, ZBO is going to start going completely nuts. I wouldn't want to see them in the playoffs.
You know that post-season when Memphis advanced for the first time in history. Who was your SF that post-season? I can't remember.
Has Gay been a difference maker in a playoff series yet? (For positive I mean) I kid, I kid. Good, solid player in his prime years... Can't wait to see those gay fields being farmed by Kyle Lowry.

Just re-watched the game, and here's what the Clippers announcers said after Rudy Game in and scored 10 quick points in 7 mins, "Rudy Gay's presence has electrified this building." They were gushing over him a lot and then talking about how everyone was playing inspired. I wonder who the inspiration was? It's no coincidence that after Gay came in and energized the fans and his teammates that his team stepped up their play, took it to another level, and claimed an insurmountable lead, but according to you he wasn't a even a key factor. Also, you inferred that I called Rudy Gay a superstar and I asked you for evidence to support that supposed claim that I made, but you didn't provide any. Either give me a link to where I called him a superstar or retract your statement and apologize.
This trade has single handedly made them one of the top teams in the east for years to come. Solid 123, and a jv whose looking good. Plus Ross coming off the bench, wow crazy how a trade like this turns a franchise around.
Memphis is a pretty unlucky team, they had to shed a couple of their players to later see them become stars. Mayo, Lowry, and I can see gay having a harden like effect for the raps, not to the level of harden but close
Smh. Sounds like a bunch of hating to me. Ur telling me next season this team isn't gonna be a playoff team lock? A bunch of young players with loads of potential...in Canada where no one wants to go. Seems like a win for me.
dam did the Clippers commentator went and said "guarantee, they didn't have that since Vince Carter" after that fairly ordinary oop?... the guy really hasn't been watching much Raptors...
Man...I'm no Rudy Gay enthusiast, but there are some bonafide haters on here! 20 points off the bench on 50 percent shooting is very solid. Is it terrific? No, but it's definitely good. Give credit where credit is due!
Oh God. As long as I have been on this board, you've been ranting on this board about Gay. On topics which absolutely have nothing to do with him, but which are relevant about basketball, you rant about Gay because of that damn trade seven years ago. Or you rant about players similar to Gay, athletic-looking guys who should be good basketball players. And then when I sarcastically state that you call him a superstar, you freak out like a little b****. So, sure, if it's that big of a deal to you, I am deeply sorry that you thought Gay was a superstar. It's hard not to believe otherwise with you. I guess in your listening to the announcers you didn't actually watch the game. Gay came in when the score was 13-10 at the 5:09 mark in the 1st quarter. A full quarter later, the score was 27-27. So, while Gay did play a good game, it's clear that his electrified presence didn't actually give the Clippers the lead like you claim it did. Jonas and Demar had recently entered the game and then the Raptors went on an incredible run to end the half. Then, during the beginning of the second half, they continued on that run even with Gay sitting on the bench. I didn't watch the game afterwards so I won't comment from there, but my point is clear. Gay played a decent to good game, especially by his standards. But he's not the difference between victory and defeat like you and everyone on ESPN will claim he is. The return of bad Jamaal Crawford, an excellent Raptors defense ( which has been good all season so don't start claiming that Gay's the reason for it) are more important. They could very well make it, but I don't view the Raptors as a lock. At all. And while they have a lot of players in their prime, I don't see a lot of players with loads of potential aside from Jonas ( Ross has the slight problem of not being stuck behind the other Raptor wings). The point is that Colangelo, in the usual attempt to save his job, has created a team whose absolute best case scenario is first round exit...and this is a team in the luxury tax. Toronto needs to have new management.
To be fair to Kojirou, What has been in denial about Gay since Memphis drafted him. He even made that infamous "Rudy Gay is on Durant's level" thread, so him claiming he never said Gay was a superstar is laughable. Secondly, it's too soon to say whether Gay will blossom in Canada. His past history notwithstanding, there are a lot of reasons he might turn into a new player ala ZBO: 1. Lowry is the team's leader, and they're BFFs 2. Toronto's coach is actually much better than Memphis IMHO. 3. Getting traded might have lit a fire under his ass, Gay always had talent. It was his soft play that made his game look so bad (settling for J instead of driving, no defense etc). 4. Toronto doesn't have 2 low post dominant scorers, so Gay can actually drive and dish Watching his first game back as the basis for whether the trade was good is ridiculous though, he just got traded, obv. he would want to show everyone up. I still think they gave up too much for Gay esp. given his contract, the only reason they could afford it is Lowry only costs 6M a year.
