I tried to find it but couldnt , can you do a ranking for the top 25 PG on offense and defense using synergy stats
Unfortunately the free part of synergy only lets you view 2 players at a time and the bottom is cut off unless you view players 1 by 1.. That'll take me way too long. Lin's d is definitely underrated though. I remember when the Rockets played the Clippers, everyone in the game thread was predicting how Lin would have trouble with Eric Bledsoe's defense. However according to the stats, Lin was actually a better defender in just about all situations.
Honestly, Lin is a better defender than Dragic / Lowry. He gambles a bit too much here and there but he's averaging 2-3 steals a game which is huge. He hustles too. Offensively, I think the system that they're both in, makes Lin look worse. Lin is not allowed to play PG as everyone knows, and while the Lin might have similar minutes, he's allowed to shoot a lot less. That makes up for the lower PER. As someone mentioned, volume shooting > percentage calculated in PER. After seeing what Lin can do last year and seeing what Dragic/Lowry can do, and after seeing Lin beat Lowry last time Lowry played vs the Rockets, I'm inclined to believe Lin will be the better PG than Dragic/Lowry if he was playing under the right system. Unfortunately, our current system is a nightmare for PGs.
I dont believe that you're right, Lins Usage was at 17.6 in the beginning of December , now its at 19.8 , hopefully in the next 2 months it can reach 22.5 where it should be:grin:
No one ever confused AI for being a good defender because of the steals he averaged, lead the league in.
ESPN's Player Rater: http://games.espn.go.com/fba/playerrater?&slotCategoryId=0 (for PGs) 12. Jeremy Lin 22. Goran Dragic 29. Kyle Lowry
Damn it ,but looking at Synery and avg. Pg offense and Defense in my estimation Lin would be around 15-18 overall at PG, if he can shoot the 3PT at 33% the rest of the years his points per game can move up 1.5 , which will round him closer to 200 ranking on offense then 300 ranking
I'm not saying that Lin is a better defender than Lowry but it should be pretty obvious to anybody watching the games that he is a good defender.
Though I think Lin is on par with those 2, and one of the top 12 pgs when playing teams with better records, no way is Lin playing better than Bledsoe, Vasquez or rondo overall.
those are fantasy rankings. has no relation to "playing better."don't be fooled by earl! lin gets more steals, blocks and rebounds than most pgs so he's great for fantasy.
Disagree. Rondo yes, Vasq and Bled no. Let's not forget who these players are surrounded by. All-stars that compliment the PG position, not take away from.
Check out Bledsoe's performances these days without CP3 in the lineup.. dude's been struggling, 2-4 record including getting blown out today, shooting 34% FG, averaging 11.6/5/5 in 34 minutes over last 5 games not including today. His stocks have really dropped, and I would argue if he's even a starter quality PG.
Without watching the games, I don't know, could be just in a slump. After all he did avg. 45%FG for the season.. but I'd put off the talk of him being better than Lin for now.
Yeah, I have been really surprised at how bad Gordon and the Clippers have been recently. The tricky part with bench players is that they often go against other bench players in limited action. So I think a lot of times, when bench guys get starter minutes against other teams' starting squads, their numbers dip. Luckily that didn't happen with our bench guy, Harden. But I think that may be the case with Gordon. I think CP3's MVP case has gotten a lot stronger though because of all this.
'Public defensive metrics' So its not simply defensive metrics, I tend to believe they do have their own way of evaluating players defensive ability, maybe its just not exactly what the mass public have access to --- a.k.a synergy.
