It's simple: With both Danny Granger and Paul George becoming free agents following the 2013/2014 season (George a restricted free agent), a strong comeback from Danny Granger could make Paul George expendable in the same way James Harden became when his former team couldn't come to terms on a contract extension. Paul George will be coming off of his rookie contract, and is showing major potential as he fills in for Danny Granger with the Pacers. His performance tonight against the Heat while defensed by Lebron James and, at times, double-teamed on the perimeter has been impressive. Hence, the Houston Rockets have a vested interest in Danny Granger making a strong comeback.

    Thoughts?

Paul George is better than Danny Granger. They will not ship him.

Granger is actually not very efficient. His reputation is greater than his game.

Why would they choose an older, more expensive option over a young cheap prospect with very high potential?

But yet, if Indiana decides to ship him out then HELL YA. Dude is a stud.

He's young, mistake proned, and if Danny Granger makes a strong comeback and they make noise in the playoffs, they may feel compelled to stick with their vet. You must recall that Donnie Walsh is their GM. I'm not convinced that he can avoid doing what he did with NYK.

Well after his contract ends I don't think he would be a cheap prospect, I agree that the Pacers would rather choose George over Granger (I know I would)

No doubt that its a situation to watch an eye out for. Not necessarily for George, because no way Indiana lets him go, but to see if Indiana moves Granger sooner to give themselves the cap space and ability to resign George.

I think the thing to watch out for is what Granger looks like in his come back from injury. Granger is a former all-star and excellent two way SF. He's not a superstar, but he's still an ideal secondary scorer. Someone who could be a great fit next to Harden. That's if Granger can still play at a high level after his injury. Something that should be possible.

However, I think the Rockets probably have their eyes set on a better fit like a Kevin Love as the best case scenario, but if Granger comes available, I have no doubt that Morey will at least entertain a phone call with Indiana.

I gave up my Paul George wet dreams a long time ago, along with finding out that Santa and the Easter Bunny weren't real. The time to pry George away was on draft night. He's the future of the Pacers and everyone knows it ...except apparently the OP.

Call me insane but I'd take Parsons over Granger due to the upside alone.

Besides, the other poster is right, Rockets need a 4 not a 3.

The Thunder didn't have the cap space and didn't want to get over the luxury. Harden became available because the thunder had too many good players...not enough Money.

The Pacers don't have that luxury. George should be their only Max player moving forward and the only reason he's max is because if he hits the market some team will give him that.

    Danny Granger registered PER's of 22, 20, 18, 19 over the last 4 years.

    That's pretty good...

If we get Granger, we also get our stretch 4 - Parsons.

Granger would be a great pickup for the Rockets. A real good 3 point shooter, not a terrible defender, could have him and Parsons on the floor at the same time for stretches in a small ball lineup. He is far superior to Parsons in making his own shot.

No, he's not a 4, but I'm not convinced there are any star quality 4s available in the next 18 months anyway. Granger will be a big expiring next season if any team decides they want to move their 4....
