I think Gortat has more value to Atlanta than to Houston. Horford-Gortat would be a very nice frontcourt with a crazy amount of cap space to add other good pieces.

for me, I want us to trade for a PF who can give post scoring/rebounding and a defensive specialist at the SG/SF position..

Houston Receives: Kevin Love, Aaron Brooks
Minnesota Receives: Demarcus Cousins, Tyreke Evans, Carlos Delfino, Patrick Patterson
Sacramento Receives: Nikola Pekovic, Jeremy Lin, Donatas Motiejunas

    Why for Houston?
We get a 2nd foundational player in Love, and a PG who can shoot the three and drive the lane. Also, Brooks contract expires next year.

    Why

    Why for Minnesota?
Get rid of the Love headache, and add a center with HUGE upside potential who is looking for a new start. Evans is expiring, Delfino gives you a better option at SG, and Patterson is a good option of the bench.

    Why for Sacramento?
Get rid of the Cousins and Evans headaches, add a very good center in Pekovic, add a PG that will have HUGE appeal to the fanbase in Seattle (Lin), and a good PF prospect in Motiejunas.

    Brooks / Beverly
    Harden / ??
    Parsons / ??
    Love / Morris
    Asik / Smith

I like this and I think it does make sense for all teams. However, I don't know if Minnesota would want to gamble on the troubled Cousins. But, Minnesota is one of those teams that probably has to take chances to be a true contender, since free agents are unlikely to sign there. I think that Minnesota might want more for giving up both Love and Pekovic.

Minnesota would be giving up arguable 2 of its top 3 players and saramento would be giving up arguable its top 2 players, and all the rockets are giving up is maybe the 3rd best player on the rockets.

Aaron Brooks grew up in Seattle. I suspect he will be a fan favorite there. Don't get me wrong-- I'd love to have him back, and think he'd be a great fit alongside Harden.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but you are correct. If the motivation was to get rid of headaches, Minny and Sac could just swap. I suppose I gave greater weight to Lin's marketing appeal than he's actually worth.

Not sure how to fix it. Asik is the great equalizer, but in this trade the other teams have good centers.

I still think the best option is a three way between Dallas, Houston, and Minny.

Paul Millsap would be my choice. Trading Patrick Patterson and Carlos Delfino for him. That works well, sad thing we'll lose Carlos Delfino.

    How about:

Miami Receives: Omer Asik, Patrick Patterson, Donatas Motiejunas
    Houston: Chris Bosh

Miami fixes the one hole in their team (interior defense), and gets a cheap PF that is a plus defender and can hit the 3. Miami also saves probably over $10 million in cap and taxes. Then let them pick between Morris, Motiejunas, and Jones as a young/cheap prospect.

    Miami
    Chalmers
    Wade
    Miller / Battier
    LeBron
    Asik

    Houston
    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Morris
    Bosh

Do I think this will happen? Probably not.

I could see the acquisition of Bosh in the offseason with our caproom and a combination of our power forwards and maybe Lin (if we get Chalmers to replace him). Miami's looking at some major luxury tax penalties, and may lose Bron anyway (and Wade's not getting any younger---nor less douchey, for that matter :p ).

But Miami also might just ride out their All Stars' contracts til 2014 summer and see what happens.

actually, if they amnesty Mike Miller and the tax line goes up as much as projected, Miami's expenses don't go up next year. They might even decrease, or Miami might decide to add another small piece.

This might be a little bias but i like omer asik and have never been a fan of bosh. I would rather have Asik, PatPat and Dmo then bosh...i can't tell if im just biased and overvaluing Asik...

Rather just sign a PF during the offseason because we can just maintain our assets for a future trade...

I would like to see the Rockets trade a 2nd round pick for Antawn Jamison as a rental for a play off run.

Speaking of "headaches", did everybody see Westbrook's tantrum last night?

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ad3z8vo

Boston in: Jeremy Lin, Cole Aldrich
Houston in: DeMarcus Cousins, Tyreke Evans
Oklahoma City in: Rajon Rondo, Aaron Brooks
Sacramento in: Russell Westbrook, Donatas Motiejunas

If you still wanted to send Cousins, Evans, Delfino, & PPat to Minnesota for Love + filler, I could live with that.

with the new CBA you can really only have 2 elite players unless they are on a rookie contract or suddenly blow up on a cheap contract

not sure Bosh or Milsap is that 2nd max piece to pair with Harden
