To be fair, trolling aside, UH basketball is beyond pathetic. There is absolutely NO excuse for them to be as piss poor as they are. What is it now, 25+ years without getting into the tournament?? How is that even possible? It's a major market university in the 4th largest city in the country......it should NOT be that difficult to get yourself a decent enough recruit to lead your team to ONE tournament bid in 2+ decades.

I think UH made it a few years ago after winning the CUSA tournament, but yeah the point still stands

I am disappointed in people feeding the troll here. The perfect response is to ignore these threads. I wasn't going to respond until I saw that it broke 2 pages, doesn't anyone learn a lesson here? If the thread gets 0 replies then it's over. People always fall into this trap.

I was expecting this thread last night once the game was over, but no one that I know from Rice even mentioned it until today once it was in the news. Goes to show how much they follow their teams. I'm sure I've been to more Rice basketball games than bigtexxx has. Then again, I'm pretty sure I'm more of a Rice alum than he is.

And seriously wtf UH. Fire Dickey.

Recruits do not come to conference USA that much. Players from Houston tend to go to high standard colleges. Nobody wants to stay at home. Uh got lucky with Daniel house staying at home. They could have gotten that center who went to UT or Rasheed Suliaman or Harrison twins. Houston kids do not wanna go to UH because it's not really a "school" environment. Too many people commute and therefore the campus is usually dull after 5:30 or whenever it gets dark. Not enough school spirit. Now that they are building stuff trying to get more school spirit everything might change. Also considering the fact that they are going to big east might lure in some recruits.

I also find it hard to believe. After last season, most of the best players Rice had quit the team for some reason.

frankly it's because UH athletics are not very good.

you had a little blip with Sumlin while he was there, but now it's back to reality in all sports

Seriously, why would we hide it? It's only the best school in Texas, maybe even the entire South.

Speaking of which, who are the known Rice students/alums on CF?

Me, bigtexx, The Drake, heypartner (I think), ???

I agree the athletics department has taken a downfall since the Hakeem days. They are trying to get players to come here and make it better. They have a few great recruits coming in. I think the school will get good in 5 years.

Jess Neely coached some great Rice football teams in the 1940s and 50s. Our 60-year rebuilding plan should be bearing fruit real soon...

heypartner is one and Isabel is the only other poster that comes to mind. Perhaps the others just disguise it too well???

It isn't an ivy league school so why I don't know why anyone would pay 40k to go there.

I didn't. They also have a huge endowment and great financial aid. They're constantly on the top of the list for value of education lists. Personally, I only owed 13k in loans after graduating and paid it off within the year with my awesome salary and signing bonus from great job that I got because I went to such an awesome school. :p
