I liked the guy when he was here. He didn't excel but he always played like he was pissed. Him along with Russell Crowe and Mel Gibson made me realize Aussies get angry easily.

Had 7 points,9 rebounds and 1 block in his debut tonight...I know it was against the Bobcats.

Seems like a high energy, tough low block player the Spurs need. Hopefully it will be a Duncan/Splitter/Baynes/Diaw rotation by playoff time, might be nice if we can get another mobile big man to help with Ibaka and other pretty mobile forwards.

    Andrew Gaze says 'G'day!'

    So does Luc Longley.

NBA Trivia: Gaze & Longley have more rings than Stockton & Malone.

Shane Heal was as clean a three point shooter as you'll ever see, gets to the USA & shoots 30%???...

    Introducing Aron Baynes...

    First NBA bucket...

If this kid can stay out of foul trouble & continue to get an opportunity, he will be an animal on the boards, block a shot a game and give you all out hustle.

I can't stand the Spurs, but you have to give them credit. Having the Australian Olympic Duo of Mills & Baynes coming if the bench is a stroke of genius, both are very good players & the chemistry is already there.

    Think of Poor man's Asik.

Why did they sign him without shoes? Was he homeless or something?

I hate their scouting department....they're to damn good

They pretty much found a big, athletic and physical 7'ft(er) out of no where... da-fuq?! It took us 3 season, after Yao got injured, to get someone like that!

By the way, when he decides to wear shoes he's 7'0 and possess a 7'2.5 wingspan.

    Only played 18 minutes also. That's a 14 points, 18 rebounds and 2 blocks per 36min:eek:

As long as he is getting time in front of Bonner and Blair as one of them will probably be gone by the trade deadline anyways.

Baynes played in the Euroleague. They didn't get him out of nowhere. The Euroleague is absolutely loaded with guys that can play in the NBA.
