The Rockets have played really well the last 2 games with Lin playing PG and Harden playing SG. I REALLY hope McHale keeps it this way. I guess the videos they watched about when they were winning didn't just help the players. You have to wonder though why it took McHale over half the season to play Lin and Harden in the positions they were signed for. Imagine if they played this way from the beginning of the season? I'd bet their record would be better than it is. Let's see how the rest of the season goes!! I'M OPTIMISTIC!!!!
once the starters go cold and fall behind hes gonna change it up again and everyone will go back at calling for his head ..
The only good thing that Mchole does: watch the threads in clutchfans.com and copy the ideas sometimes. So I am not a McFail hater for now until he's being stubborn again.
I still dont like him but if they keep this up he will be my second favorite of all time behind RUUUUUUUDY motha fu---- T.Props for having them ready tonight.
I say fire mchale RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i mean having a 30+ point lead and you wait till 7 min to bring donuts n company?? kill him!
Mchale still scares me as a coach but I've got to admit he's done a good job lately. I think he's earned a reprieve unless he goes clueless again....
what bothers me is how come the rocket's didn't play this type of defense in the beginning of the season??
Really? 1. They added several new players (Lin, Asik, Douglas, Delfino, and the last minute addition of some guy named Harden). 2. They lost several old players in Lowry, Scola, Dragic, etc. 3. McHale didn't have an off-season last year to implement much in the way of D to carry over into this year with the handful of players that are still on the team. It can be tough to implement some things on the fly in a short time. 4. It takes time for team defense to mesh and gel and to learn how to best play with those around you as well as to buy into the system. 5. We're the youngest team in the league. 6. Basketball reasons.
The defense was given a lift from 1) Only 5 TOs - we are a decent halfcourt defensive team, but very poor on transition D 2) Williams + Hayward not playing, basically we were leaving Jamal Tinsley open all day, and packing the paint/helping inside. Jazz had only Randy Foye as a real 3pt threat. But it was a great effort. Asik owned Jefferson in a real bad way.
Kept the second unit in way too long versus the Nuggets and by the time he made the substitutions the Nuggs were red hot.
