Kyle Lowry will be happy. Him and Rudy are pretty close I believe

Can't believe Memphis blew this team up. Why couldn't they just trade him in the offseason? I see nothing that would have made Gay untradeable in the offseason. They could have even gotten more if Gay plays well rest of the year.

    Makes tons of sense.

They are a official dark horse contender IMO. If any team has a shot without a superstar its them for sure. They look a lot like that Pistons team...A lot like them...

Prince isn't a scrub and he really isn't all that different from the player he used to be. He's just been stuck on a horrible team.

No... He will say something like...
"Great deal by Grizz! Prince is a top 5 small forward and Ed Davis is a beast! Ed Davis is about to show the world he is on Karl Malone's level."

You're right - IF there is a follow up move. But considering there has not yet been one, it's fair to assess it with where it leaves them currently?

Considering there have been 2 moves by the Grizz so far, one might fairly assume a 3rd is in the pipeline - which wing scorer can they bring in who is actually likely to be moved?
Danny Granger? But do they have the assets to make a run at him? I'd doubt it...

I'd guess it's the same thing which has made him hard to trade in the present? Ie: the fact that he's an above average wing being paid superstar money.

Nobody will go for that in the off-season, they'll all assume they can get an above average wing at their draft spot, on rookie scale contract.

I thought it was a good trade for everybody.

When Memphis hired Hollinger - there was one clear directive. Get out of luxury tax, and add future flexibility. They did this with the two trades, and kept their front court in tact and added depth there. And they aren't much worse off because they played at a similar level without Gay (Prince and Battier is a similar trade-off), and they got insurance for Tony Allen.

Detroit really had to blow it up, and start new without Prince. Prince was the lone remaining face of the franchise, and Dumar's best pick. But they have a future with Drummond and Monroe.

Toronto cannot attract stars, so they have to give up value to get stars currently under contract. Like they did with Lowry. Calderon the expiring contract was always likely to be more valuable as a trade bait than an often-injured pouting Lowry.

I think each team got and dealt what it needed, not necessarily what it wanted.

Is it just me or does Toronto Look Scary

    PG: Lowry
    SG: Derozan/Ross
    SF: Gay/ Fields
    PF: Bargnani/ Johnson
    C: Valanciunes

Still don't know who will step up on D, but looks good on paper.

Hell that is better than our line up for the past three years

No, Calderon's expiring contract is not more valuable than Kyle Lowry.

Detroit is the winner here. Huge expiring and they can add a great piece in the off season plus Calderon is a good player maybe the best player out of this trade.

What piece are they going to add? Among teams that will have max player cap room next year, Detroit is probably the worst place to go to. They will most likely overpay for B-level talent like they did with Villanueva and Gordon.

If the Raptors get it together after the allstar break and somehow grab/maintain the 8th spot:)) makes the Harden trade that much better.
