just to be clear here, when I say you sacrifice content management with frameworks, I don't mean literally. I only meant that I assume you aren't going to spend a year or 6 months trying to learn php and mysql.

creating a content management system from a framework is expert level web design. It isn't something you are going to pick up easily that's for sure.

A lot of them are from Eastern Europe and India/Asia. Also, many have "add-ons" five bucks is just the minimum. You get what you pay for on there, ask a lot of questions BEFORE buying so they know exactly what you expect. It is a FANTASTIC asset if used properly. I'm actually on there =)

    99designs.com

Unless you're really wanting to learn it.

I've had bad experience with 99 Designs in the past, but great success with Crowd Spring.

Had a dead-beat designer one time and it took over a month to get straightened out, I was also shafted as a designer once (buyer used my design without payment). Bailed for CrowdSpring and never looked back. This was probably four years ago though.

I've used Fiverr for logos before and they're high quality. I've worked in design agencies in the past (logos and 'identity' costing thousands $$) - logos can be churned out quickly by good designers. Fiverr usually has a couple of guys who are from Eastern Europe that are fantastic. You just need to find them, which is the annoying part.

if you want something fast and nice looking and you dont know anything about HTML/CSS
go for a CMS, and buy a template, there are sites who you pay something like $50 and get access to hundreds of professional looking templates. but you need have at least some knowledge of image editing, to put your own logo and customize some images for your company

Seems like I should probably stay away from designing myself since I would probably need some kind of template to start with.

I'll look at WordPress and some of the other sites mentioned here; looks like I can save a few hundred bucks and get a nice-looking simple template for under $100.

Thanks for all the info guys, I really appreciate it.

    Need some help.

I'm starting a blog for fun but I would like to register it with search engines. Google was a breeze. Bing...not so much.

Trying to verify the ownership of my site. I have 3 options. I don't know anything about Wordpress and am trying to find where to plug an xml file into the server. Or something. Bing provided me with a link to my own site and told me to plug it in there but I just got an error that the page couldn't be found.

I used my google machine which told me that I could import the xml file to the rss importer. It accepted it but the site has still not been verified.

I'm using a Wordpress Theme. Bing says I could simply Copy and paste a <meta> tag on my default webpage but I can't find a page to do so. Perhaps that's because I'm using Wordpress and it's made for morons like me?

    A little help!

    Edit: Never mind! Got it!

Just to let you know, you don't really need to "register" sites with search engines anymore, as they automatically "crawl" the web with their "spiders" and index your sites.

I do encourage you to use the Google XML Sitemap plugin though.
