It appears we are #7 for 2013..? http://nba.si.com/2013/01/23/new-york-knicks-los-angeles-lakers-franchise-value-forbes/ First Post!
This shouldn't be a surprise based on how Les has generally handled our salaries. A couple of years ago, the Rockets were willing to go way over the tax to get Bosh, and that was after Yao's career ending injury. The Rockets went over the tax when they traded for Jefferies. Les also authorized spending of $3mil on various 2nd round picks including Landry, Dorsey, Llul, Budinger, and Jermaine Taylor. In general, Les has always been willing to spend, as long as the penalties weren't punitive(Lakers/Knicks/Nets level tax penalties).
Not surprising. The team is in a very good market, both in terms of population size and corporate sponsor base and has a very good arena. Hard to to make money under these conditions.
.."Great job Les!".. ........................... ........................... ...........................
Im sure that the profitability number is about to slowly increase every year for the foreseeable future and the franchise value will to with increased attraction in the brand coming soon.
