You might to use the No. 3 Social Network to investigate the No. 2 Social Network.

(No I'm not a Dane Cook fan. Dane Cook was a lazy add from the auto-recommendations when I joined G+)

A recent Dane Cook post, same in both G+ and FB -

    in G+ it has 179 1-ups and 8 reshares
in FB it has 19,744 likes (1-ups) and 640 shares (reshares)

Its just one example, but its around 100 TIMES the volume on FB compared to G+.

For regular people, you can have a regular conversation on G+ the same as on FB anywhere else, just need a handful of participants. You're not gonna get "100 times" the conversation messages on FB compared to G+.

Its to show the higher volume of activity and more looks on FB compared to G+. They've been darn good but still got lots of work ahead of them. We know G+ would MUCH rather have it be the OTHER way around.

So basically i can get facebook stream on it as well? How do i get to that social stream looking set up? When i log in, it's different looking. Gonna play around i guess.

I personally don't see how being "invasive" is much better or worse than being "ALL INCLUSIVE". All of them want you to spend too much time inside THEIR domain than you should be doing relative to your real life

And I would gather that a "look at what I'm eating" post will be functionally the same on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, G+. Because its all similary attention seeking and annoying. I'd think on G+ that the CONTROLS are better to LIMIT that audience and exposure, though.

I'll still say that I wish FB would do what G+ does, or G+ would somehow scoop up all the users. G+ is just more robust. And if I was a higher Youtube user, the integration with G+ would be nicer. I WANT it to do well with active users, I just don't see it anytime soon. I think most people are like me, just tired of "migrating" accounts and this time they're giving FB its chances to fix itself to retain them before making big switches.

Yes, the way I use it, G+ is more like Clutchfans than FB. For me, it's like a combination of Clutchfans, Twitter and various news feeds.

There's an in-depth look at the numbers here:
    http://globalwebindex.net/thinking/google-in-depth/
This is the source of the new reports (note they're using their own data I think, not actual numbers from Google, Facebook, etc.).

This is using just their data though, which could be flawed (no idea). IIRC, Google release numbers recently on their userbase. Something like 100M-150M active users (i.e., frequently checking/posting in their stream), something like 250M-300M who actively use the services (e.g., +1 articles), and 500M+ upgraded accounts (presumably all the Gmail/Youtube/etc. accounts).

Personally, I love G+. Much better UI that Facebook. I don't have nearly as many friends using it, but I "follow" a lot more stuff on it, and my G+ stream is probably more active than my Facebook stream (or at the very least, it has more "worthwhile" content, but that probably goes without saying when comparing content to Facebook). I agree with how A_3PO described it (that's how I use it). Hangouts, events (and event integration), and communities have been really nice too (we had a community for work, and it worked so much better than Yammer, but think people ended up not using it after a bit since the higher ups didn't like us using both).

G+ is a flop like Google Wave and iGoogle. G+ will be gone and be remodeled into something different than social network in couple years.
